I'm probably going to need this. My panic attacks are triggered by the thought of this, so I'm trying to show that side of myself that there is nothing to fear.

I have had two ablations with Dr. Hongo for PVCs. He's great and knows what he's talking about! I'm glad he shared this informative video for people who are considering having this procedure done. It's helpful to understand exactly what will be happening and definitely eases any anxiety one might have before going into it. I will say, however, that one ablation is not always the answer. In my case, I am probably going to need a third ablation to completely solve the problem.
I'm dealing with a similar issue and considering ablation. What type of PVCs were you having and what was the frequency of them? Thanks for any input.

+Pete Senn Somethign I want to share with you IF that's okay? I apologize, as it is lengthy! But it may help others! I was diagnosed
with PSVT on December 2008, and according to my cardiologist, it is
non-life-threatening! Thank God for that! I later had an ablation
procedure done on February 2009, which my cardiologist introduced a
total of three different types of drugs to induce palpitations; all
failed. In fact, prior to this procedure, I was seen by ER more than 13
times from the plethora of side effects from the drugs I was prescribed!
I went from two medications to five, and I thought I was going to die,
that's how bad I was! I had no appetite, and was constantly having
reflux (burping every second that I was awake), but without the acidic
part! Apparently cause by the Flecainide.
Luckily, a friend of mine introduced me to a Naturopath, and instead of
the usual wait of 30-45 minutes only to be seen for 5 minutes or less,
he took two hours trying to understand the root of the problem rather
than the symptoms. He ordered blood tests and what was considered as
normal levels by my primary doctor my Naturopath did not. Fast forward, I
no longer have the heart pounding, chest going to explode arrhythmia.
Within two-months of natural treatment, I'm for the most part (99%) free
of PSVT symptoms.
Yes, I do get it now and again, but very seldom and it's very minute- -I
can hardly feel it. My Naturopath treatment consisted of different
lists of Organic Foods that I could eat varying the foods every two
weeks or so. I also had 8 sessions of hydro-colonic therapy to cleanse
my colons. In addition, I was drinking a cup of concoction of 20
different herbs, roots, and flowers, all finely grounded, specific to my
treatment mixed in hot water and drinking it like tea; as well as
Neprinol AFD, probiotics, and other natural products. The side effect
was unexpected! I lost almost 40 pounds going from 154 to 115 pounds as
the results of eating Organic Foods! I'm now back to a very comfortable
weight of 130 pounds.
So, there are other treatment besides catheter ablation! It worked for
me and it may work for others, too. Note! My Naturopath said that, in
many case, a second, third or fourth catheter ablations may be required
as also explained by my cardiologist. Not good! I'm also taking
Magnesium Taurate as part of my regimen- - good for Palpitations! You

Yeap I was born with WPW and I needed 2 ablations to completely, destroy the tissue. The first ablation is to eliminate any risk factor and the second is to completely remove the problem.

Scheduled for an ablation for SVT in May, this is a great break down of what exactly is going on in the heart. My cardiologist explained it well too, but the visuals really helped make it click.
I’m in the hospital as we speak for ventricular tachycardia. I have a defibrillator/pacemaker. I been shocked really hard six times yesterday 11/4/2023. I already had three ablations done. The team is getting together Monday tomorrow 11/6/2023 to more likely agree with surgery again. I was on amiodarone and was recently taking off that med this pass August. I pray that everyone that have this I pray we all will be ok. I think we have a lot more life to live than we know but it is scary to have this. Blessings to you all 🙏🏿💜

Do you find that the Defibrillator shocks vary in strength? I had one yesterday and it didn't hurt like some I have had before.

I am a long term sufferer of SVT. In fact it was congenital in my experience. As my heart developed when i was a foetus my chambers twisted in a way that cause an extra chamber. I however didn't suffer any symptoms until my early teens. I had my ablation surgery when i was about 27 years old. During my ablation the surgeons and experts also found another extra electrical node but they left it because they said it took a lot of teasing to set it off. I was really scared throughout because you are obviously awake. I remember feeling strong but painless muscle spasms down my right side from where they were sending electrical pulses in. They also removed the catheters a little too vigorously which led to some temporary nerve damage in my groin. I was told that my procedure was 95% successful. About 6 months later my svt started again. They now cant find where it is coming from so I have to go through this all again which scares me as they said its in a more serious place in my heart! I have 3 children who i always worry about in case i have given it to them which is likely as my own mum had the exact same heart condition as me, although she was luckily cured from her first ablation. I will always be keeping an eye on my children and as i know all the symptoms i shall be rushing them to the docs the moment i even get a hint of SVT with them
I think you have to be awake, because they trigger off attacks, and you have to say when you feel certain things etc. Its scary, but is over in a flash, and mine took longer than normal, as hit a complication, yet it still felt quick xx

I had this procedure done about a year ago because it seemed like an easy way to cure my SVT. unfortunately my procedure didn't go as smoothly as planned. While trying to get rid of the circuit in my heart which was causing the rapid heart beat, my AV node was hit and damaged. I had a heart blockage and the procedure was immediately stopped. There is a 2% chance of this happening. I almost needed a pace maker but luckily my heart fixed itself and I slowly recovered. It was a rough journey!

Loved this video. It really was great. Now I have a question, though. In a stable patient, which is more important? Managing PVCs that have occurred continuously over 4 days at a rate of 7 to 30 or perform CABG Lima-to-Lad of a 95% stenosis? On one hand, PVCs can harm the heart and can affect perfusion no matter the benefits of CABG. While on the other hand, CABG can correct blood flow capability. I'm leaning towards ablation first as it would provide a benefit on its own and after CABG is performed while CABG benefits may be hindered by the PVCs. Is my theory/logic sound?

12 year old granddaughter has been diagnosed with this condition and this procedure has been suggested as a treatment option. I would like to know how effective the treatment is for younger patients and what is the frequency of needing follow-up ablation treatments in the younger age groups.
I'm getting this done on the 28th of March where are you located. Also is this something that you will have to get done more then one time , my doctor was telling me this procedure is better then taking medication with the side effects that can be caused.
I was diagnosed with SVT about a month ago but have had episodes for years prior that were attributed to low magnesium, thyroid issues, hormonal problems, etc. I’m scheduled for an ablation on December 2 and I truly appreciate the detail given in this video. @@badwolf66 I’m doing good! The procedure wasn’t the most fun. The numbing didn’t take very well so I could feel where the doctor was feeding the catheter and wires in. But he found where the issue was and was able to correct it! I’m very thankful.

So if I am to understand correctly, after the catheter ablates the focus by senator if the tissue, after it heals it turns into scar tissue preventing from SVT from happening again but can’t scar tissue create other heart issues in itself? Could u please explain it a lil further?
Lets talk about the price of this operation and what you are supposed to do when you pay into insurance but your insurance refuse to pay. Or, they pay so little that you are financially defeated because you cant afford what's left over. My SVT has me strapped right now because of frequent trips to the ER to get injected with adenosine but at least that price comes in doses that I can generally pay off before the next one comes. People make it sound like it's all about the procedure when the truth is, it's all about the cost.

I really appreciate Dr. Hongo taking the time to explain the step by step on performing the surgery. I was diagnosed with rapid heartbeats 3 years. I was recommended to have surgery but my insurance at the refused to pay because it didn't cover this type of surgery. So, therefore, I didn't get it. Now, 3 years later, I am frequently is having the rapid heartbeats. They can occur at anytime. For the past 3 months, I have a total of 5 attacks so far. I am very worried of my condition right now. I may have to seek funding from an hospital or assistance program that's willing to help me. I don't have 90k in the bank. Three years ago, that was the cost of the surgery. I don't know what's the cost is now.
James Gilliam Wow, yes that is costly. Scary to think about. I know our hospital has a thing called charity care. Now I don't know if this would apply to a major procedure but I know that they can help people out who are in need. I pray you stay healthy.
Try not to fear the irregular heart beats. I have sinus tachycardia, heart palpitations daily and have been for 25 years. My heart beats per minute often hit 153 just walking up stairs. I've had it so long that I just view it as something normal.

How steady does your hand have to be to be able to perform this procedure? I'm a 6-th year med student with a very mild handshake, I love cardiology and I hope to perform this procedure in the future. Is my very mild handshake going to be a problem? Do I need "surgeon hands" to perform a catheter ablation?
No need at all. The computer, does the procedure, and they have real time ultrasound machine, and a tube down your throat which provides 3D image, so no mistakes are made. The doctor inserts the catheter, but the computer will guide it to where it needs to go.
Had ablation done a year ago. Best part is you get rid of the tachycardia....second best thing is getting my pubic hair shaved off by young, pretty redheaded nurse!

Hello! I was told to stop abruptly my medecins 7 days before the surgery. I take flecainide 200mg and beta blockers, metropobol. That scares me a lot! I'm having the surgery in 3 weeks. Any advices? 😊

@@favio6462 my surgery went well but it was not successful. I had extra beats 3 Hours after the surgery and I'm doing my second ablation in 10 weeks! Same procedure. Hopefully I'll be better after the second round. Good luck!

Thomas Stewart no. a heart attack is a serious medical emergency where the flow of blood is suddenly restricted or stopped completely, whereas tachycardia just affects the speed of the beat. hope this helps! (i'm not a doctor)

I had undergone Ventricular Tachycardia Ablation about 6 yrs back. I was all fine all these years but have started to feel palpitations again recently. Can ectopics re-occur or is it anxiety? I feel palpitations throughout the day and am finding it difficult to focus on day-to-day activities again.

I am having this done Wednesday april 3d. The medications that they have placed me on are making me horribly tired. Is this normal and is it something I will still have to deal with after surgery or will this fix this issue? I work as an ICU nurse and this happened to me at work. I went into wide complex vtach at a rate at 248. I am currently taking 100 mg bid of metopropolol and sleep constantly. I cannot even work right now so hoping that this fixes the issues permanantly.

I didn’t hear the risks…
I do have this problem, but this occurs when I drink beer or coffee too often..... From past 12 years, I have got this attack 4 times with a difference 2-3 years of time. Is there any medicine which I could take? before this occurs I get flurry feeling and suddenly heart beat goes up to 245-252...so I need advice whether I should go for this Abalation process or medication would be good enough? At the time of this attack, if I could get any medicine?

shnugourav His first two years he took propranolol but it gave him problems with his blood sugar levels, so now he has been taken atenolol for a year

Ive suffer of svt since I was 9 years old but it was always controlled I was never on meds and now that I'm 25 years old my svt came back after drinking a coffe and now I have a month that every time that I'm at work my heart just goes so fast I'm so scared, they tried giving me medication but I had this really bad reaction to it so doctor told me it was best for me to get it done , I'm having this procedure done March 18 2016 in 4 days from today 😢

are you still living? It's been 5 years now? Why 4th Ablation? I thought 90% successful rate? Please can you tell the world about why do you have to have 4 ablation? I just want to get it done only one and that's it. The heart is very important part not to poke around. I am scheduling to have one because the doctor said so. I am worry about this, that they make you addiction of Ablation like woman plastic surgery...for the beauty.
