This is an extremely lame story. It's lameness begins with the message from the mother that teases you in never actually happens. The story attempts to increase the sense of exposure and instability by having the protagonist's own parents more or less betray him on some pretext of being "close" to the cheating wife and then also making the home that the protagonist and the cheating wife live in belong to the parents so even the protagonist's living situation is not secure. No genuine or believable explanation for the parents utter lack of loyalty to their own son when his wife was clearly maneuvering to cheat on him is ever really given beyond the idea that the mother "views her as the daughter she never had" as if that would justify the mother pulling the rug out on the son she ACTUALLY has. Wouldn't listen to it if I had known any of this ahead of time. Very lame.
