I'm using Photoshop Elements, not the same Photoshop you are. But I've worked around the differences until your movable light layer. When you make a new layer, and add the black then white, yours starts out as a glowing light. Mine is first a solid black circle, then a solid white circle...and I cannot for the life of me figure out how I've done anything differently.

I think the studio light is on the wrong side, the light had to be on the dark side (not of the force), on thr right side of the model.

When it comes to making the glow on the face, it is too harsh, how do I make it look softer?
Just play with the opacity. Lower it
