Andrew last year i was in the USA on holiday for 11 weeks fishing this rig the jika rig while i was there VMC company released the Tokyo RIG let me tell you they sold out all over the USA you could not get them anywhere there was a waiting list of 4months back orders so we looked at this rig and we decided to make are own Tokyo RIG it's so easy to make all you need is a EWG worm hook a split ring a swivel and a length of stainless steel wire 4 inches in length 0.8mm DIAmeter we made them in less than 10 minutes they cost 6 dollars to buy 2 rigs in a pack we made 40 of these rigs for less than 10 Dollars,so the next morning we hit the water it was incredible this Tokyo RIG just slaughters the fish there was 15 of us fishing all on the Tokyo RIG everyone was catching a fish a chuck it was amazing the next day we hit the bass boats we was fishing 25feet deep it was a fantastic day we hammered the bass large and small mouth i have never fished a rig that was this effective ever people asked us how did we all manage to buy them so we showed all the people how to make them people said they are so easy to make and they are we made a lot of people happy that day, since i came home to the uk i have been using thd Tokyo RIG getting fantastic results with it fantastic for perch pike zander i have had some awesome perch on it as well as pike i can't tell you how good this Tokyo RIG is you have got to give this rig a go Andrew it's absolutely fantastic the rig was developed in Japan hence it's name THE Tokyo RIG a rig for every lure angler it's the number 1 used rig in USA to date everybody should fish THE Tokyo RIG so easy to make yourself ALIEN

Fair enough re TOKYO-RIG. But personally I can't see any advantages of it compared to my variation of DROPSHOT-RIG (as here th-cam.com/video/7E52m9ScgAA/w-d-xo.html ). Probably TOKYO-RIG has one advantage though, it's more "cruel"/positive, so, more selective.
I may try it one day, when I will have spare time 👍
      Thanks

It's a very versatile rig and it is no cruller than any other rig i regard treble hooks as brutal treble hooks should be banned in my opinion i have replaced all my treble hooks with single hooks as for the Tokyo RIG it's very very effective rig we all have are own opinions i guess but for me it's more effective than the jika rig ALIEN

I used quotes for "cruel". By that I meant like more barbarian/less delicate/less refined. Don't really know what else words I could use to be more clear. I didn't mean that TOKYO-RIG will damage the fish more in any way.
For example if you would fish commercial lake full of carp and would use rig with like 0.06 mm. hooklink with 24 nr. hook with a single joker on it you would get less bites from carp than, if you would be using 0.30 mm. hooklink with 10 mm. pellet on... I meant that kind of thing.
So, TOKYO-RIG in my eyes does the same thing as that heavy carp rig.👍
      Cheers

"Hello everyone Andrew's not here" had a good laugh
Jokes aside thanks for those tutorials.
In my head this should perhaps give a better action than a normal jig since the lure moves more freely

I take it these are now replaced with a simple jighead hook
