Brazing is a joining process traditionally applied to metals (but also to ceramics) in which molten filler metal (the braze alloy) flows into the joint.
What is difference between brazing and welding?
In short, welding is a technique that joins metals by melting the base metal and causing fusion, while brazing joins metals by melting and flowing a filler metal into the joint. In brazing and welding, fabricators add a filler metal into the joint.
Is brazing stronger than welding?
A properly made brazed joint (like a welded joint) will in many cases be as strong or stronger than the metals being joined. ... If you don't have to melt the base metals to join them, it doesn't matter if they have widely different melting points. You can braze steel to copper as easily as steel to steel.
What is used for brazing?
Braze welding is the use of a bronze or brass filler rod coated with flux to join steel workpieces. The equipment needed for braze welding is basically identical to the equipment used in brazing.

The melting point of the brazing filler metal is relatively close to that of the material being joined
Why are bike frames brazed instead of welded?
The choice is aesthetic and monetary. Brazed frames are more expensive than TIG welded because they require more finish work (and in the case of lugged frames, more prep work). TIG welded frames take less time to build and are typically a bit less expensive as a result.
