60 yo rolling for 4+ years, had to take 1.5 years off for the pandemic. This is very helpful indeed. At my age, I have to minimize injury, be very clear in my training and with intent. I wish I rolled earlier in life. Alas, keeping aerobic fitness, as well as gymnastic-type activities can't hurt. But no matter ones' age, strength or skill-set, when you loose, you truly know it. It's a wonderful endeavor.
Thank you Bernardo! I completely agree. I've been doing BJJ since '97 and I'm now 54 years old. I roll every week and still love to train. I've been successfully using the closed guard and my focus now has been to improve my half guard and transitioning from the two. I love what you have done for the world of Jiu-Jitsu! Oss!
I'm 51. Thank you for this (I'm a white belt with one stripe - started a few months ago roughly). I roll a lot with guys in their 30s who are also bigger, stronger and have more experience. Videos like this not only help but give me hope that I can progress and get better.
It was an honor to meet you and get a photo with you at Worlds. You are a credit to the Jiujitsu community. Your smile and amazing positive energy is real and contagious everyone was smiling and happy. Thanks for everything you do the content is awesome. 🙏🏼
I'm 36 and just starting. Hearing things like this are immensely helpful to me as someone who's getting up there and starting from a base of being sedentary prior to starting. Super excited to follow this series. I already have felt so much more comfortable from a Closed Guard and hearing you verbalize the probably WHY is so helpful to my mindset.
Thank you. Great video. I still think that older guys can build up great endurance and improve strenght aswell but agility and explosive strength is not at the same level with younger ones
Apparently those who have been doing the sport for since damn near toddler age are classified as "old" before 35-40 yrs of age. I guess the joints determine age classification, as BJJ is a beast on the joints and the earlier you start, the earlier thise joints will start talking!!!
Huge honor for me to introduce bernando to show us this next cool thing.
I forgot he knows bjj.

Yes, I need this! Fake hip and bad back, I need to get away from shooting takedowns, and this is something I need to start implementing.
Huge honor
Perfect, I am not good with De La Riva and that entry to deep half guard is very very nice. Thank you.
Thank u. I should think about half guard set up's.
