    Wow, I never would have thought about a runaway safeguard in doing this until you said something. Also the way you routed a miniature charge pipe to each runner is ingenius! I would have just lazily ran one big pipe to the junction. Looks good, excellent work!

      Thanks, Its ourdesing on this particular manifold setup but this layout has been used in WRC and Rally X for years and years. Its tried and tested. Using the individual pipes gives more time for the air and fuel to mix before the the turbo

    Do you need to remove blow-off valve to use fresh air? I think If bov work air is expelled so can't pass through alv valve

    I'm wondering about the pressure tank as well. Shouldn't the system feed itself without a pressure tank with a throttle blip to get just above atmospheric pressure? Looking forward to part 2!

    • @WaltonMotorsport
      @WaltonMotorsport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As boost flows into the valve, it pushing the piston down (and closed) The flow through the valve is equal pressure and as it pushing against a 5psi spring in the valve is unable to open the valve. The job of accumulator tank is to store some pressure, which can be used to open the valve before the turbo starts generating boost and holding the vavle closed.

    What size filler rod do you guys use when welding the main manifold? And do you use the same on the smaller 16mm ALS pipes?

  • @mattpowers941
    @mattpowers941 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have to do anything special with the blow off valve to insure pressure is not released to the atmosphere.

    • @WaltonMotorsport
      @WaltonMotorsport  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it had one, then yes you would need it remain closed when the fresh air valve is open

  • @offroader22

    What about the fuel? Do you inject fuel into the valve as well or do you just program the ecu to run the engine rich when the anti-lag is working?

    • @codyprice1921
      @codyprice1921 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically the ecu makes the engine run rich I’ve never seen it with a injector in the valve because trying to spark that fuel when it didn’t even go through the combustion chamber would be challenging

  • @LTgytis
    @LTgytis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do You need pressure tank?
    Won't it work if You just take pressure line from turbo compressor?
    Or it helps to stabilize pressure and control of the valve is better?

      We are putting this valve on our rx car. So its a very good tip.
      Huge thanks

  • @hayzeproductions7093
    @hayzeproductions7093 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not to manipulate the hard and nice work put into the car. But wouldn't it be better to remove the wastegate? If planning to put a anti lag valve on the exhaust manifold? The goal is to keep the turbo spinning, waste gates just dump the pressure out and bypass the turbo to spin it down.

    • @waltonmotorsportproductstech
      @waltonmotorsportproductstech ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand what your thinking is, but you still need to control the turbo in the same way as a non anti lag setup because the anti-lag is only active off throttle.

  • @themissingspoon3032
    @themissingspoon3032 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    does we still using BOV when installing fresh anti lag valve?

    • @codyprice1921
      @codyprice1921 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could still use one it would just have to stay closed when that fresh air valve is open to not rob the boost

  • @cobacobaschi6420
    @cobacobaschi6420 ปีที่แล้ว

    using this system you go to throw air directly into the exhaust, then the ecu must manage the fuel. but it must be remembered that once air is let into the exhaust manifold, the AFR will be leaner even if the engine is running with a correct AFR. how do you deal with this kind of problem?
    because if you analyze that the combustion and therefore the air \fuel ratio in the combustion chamber is correct, the lambda takes into account the exhaust gases in the downpipe, not knowing that there is a connected Als which bypasses the air in the exhaust manifold ducts, consequently yes it will have a leaner afr, and you cannot inject more fuel, because this air does not participate in the combustion...

    • @WaltonMotorsport

      Depends how you set it up, but in this instance when activated it changes to a different fueling table.

    Does this work on a diesel 😂

    • @gedas3419
      @gedas3419 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hehe, nice one :D. Diesels don't have throttle body. They are direct air engines, and controlled by fuel injection quantity, not by thorttles, valves ect opening. When you release pedal, no fuel is injected, and thus turbo slows down. when you press gas pedal, fuel injects, turbo spools, more air, even more fuel.

    This bypass air anti-lag is nothing new.....
    I had the same idea in the mid 90's untill I discovered it had already been done in the early/mid 80's.
    Look up Audi 'um-luft' system fitted to the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2.
    You don't even need a specialty valve, you can just use a generic external wastegate to accomplish the same result.

    • @WaltonMotorsport
      @WaltonMotorsport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope nothing new, Fabricators here have been building manifolds with fresh air systems for years in rally applications. Its just new at this pricepoint.
      You can use a wastegate as you say, and the ALV40 is pretty much just a wastegate with difference flanges, the difference is that a ALV40 uses a different valve guide which allows for a better seal. this serves 2 purposes; 1) better twin port control as the lower actuator housing is sealed better and 2) the Fresh Air / pressure of the system when activated can not leak up into the actuator housing to impact the control strategy
