Yep, one of the first in-class projects I had in my graphic design program was to come up with 20 distinct logo solutions within a half hour using a soft lead pencil. And my teacher said he didn’t want to see anyone stop to think. He just wanted to see pencils moving on paper. So I totally understand what you’re saying. Too often the the temptation is to “polish the turd”. But to be honest, the problem I still have is looking at a bunch of sketches and trying to decide what direction to take because I have difficulty visualizing what the refined versions look like. I just signed up for your Sketching for Design class and hope to gain some new insights.
Your teacher was wise! Remember as you are looking at sketches to evaluate the idea you have sketched in relation to the users experience (another one of the concepts from the last video). You don't need to fully visualize what a refined version will look like, but rather what the concept of that sketch will do (or not do) for the user.

Great video Ben you have inspired me to start sketching, I have definitely resisted this but won’t going forward, thanks
Awesome, I'm glad I could help, it is so important!
Ben, do you need to pay for a skillshare membership to access your sketching course? I tried accessing it but I’m prompted to sign up for a membership
Try this link: skl.sh/46KX6pg it shouldn't require a membership but you will have to make a free account.
That worked! Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to taking your course. @@bendesignsmedia
