Good for you. But not always practical, remember investing works with time. Can’t pay off debt for 5years at the age of 40 to start investing at 45….you’re already behind time therefore you’ll need to invest way higher amounts to catch up
@@GeorgeAusters well it depends whether you want to get to 65 without any savings or investments but with zero debt. I would rather have a bit of both Debt with savings or investments
Nicolette, listening to you changed my life. 3 years ago I had just over 300k in unsecured debt. I started paying it off aggressively and now I only have about 50k left to pay off because of your advice. Once done in a few months, this year, I will be investing just as aggressively 🙏
got so scared everyday thinking on when I would get the loan done with, then I encountered a professional broker who proposed a daily passive income as Crypto investment and I jumped on it. I earn $900 daily of my total Investment and no capital lost.
My strategy is to focus on paying off high interest debt like my credit card while paying the minimum amount on other debts like my student loan and also investing whatever I can in ETFs. This is also in addition to saving toward retirement (coz this is also an investment). However, if one is drowning in debt that has high interest, I think it is best to focus on stabilizing and minimizing that financial risk before investing. You don't have to be debt free to invest. Just get rid of whatever debt keeps you up at night.
Thank you Nicolette for discussing this because financial institutions hardly encourage consumers to invest rather to take debt. This is a good way to make people think about it
Waiting for 2 companies to pay dividends this month and sell my entire EasyEquities holdings to pay off my credit card and start investing on EE from scratch 🤞🏾
Nicollette Mashile... I absolutely love this content... Big ups to you girl... May this channel grow... Love it for me... Where can we purchase your book? Love how you get straight into it... You articulate issues so well
Back in 2019 I decided to buy my mother a Mazda 3, 2020 version. One of the things that the salesman advised me against was the balloon payment. I didn't know what this was but he explained it to me and I agreed with him. He negotiated the financing for me and I went to the finance lady to sign, it must have been excitement but i don't remember her saying anything about a balloon payment to me but because she knew I didn't want it so I just signed everything. Because now I am planning towards pay off this car i decided to review the financing of the car. Boom there was an almost R90000 of balloon payment. I am asking myself why would a salesman advise me against something and then decide to negotiate on my behalf for it. This was my first debt so I was in no way desperate, I could have afforded even two of those cars at that time. I feel defeated!
@@FinancialBunny I'm going to pay my home loan off first. I was saying to my partner this is a bigger investment for me than investing in EE. My stocks can go down and I can loose everything whereas my extra payment towards my home loan is a better investment I won't lose my money there.
@@FinancialBunny thank you so much for your video. I am investing into unit trust already so as you said it is investing so essentially I'm doing both but spending more on my home loan as before.
Through your videos.I have successfully paid off my credit card today. Now only have one more loan to pay . Will need your advice though paying off the last personal loan... I have half of the money i owe to clear the loan, now don't know if I must save it through investment until it is enough to settle the loan maybe after 6months. Than Start from the scratch? Please kindly advise
Very informative, thank you. Is there a chance that you can please discuss purchasing a car or any other asset using your flexi funds from a home loan as opposed to making use of separate financing?
Taking equity from an appreciating asset to buy a depreciating asset, I wouldn't do that. I'd rather take equity from an existing home loan to buy another asset that will generate cash flow, from that cash flow will be able to buy a car.
I thought I could do both, but with the trajectory the repo rate is currently on, I am on a journey to aggressively pay off my vehicle debt. That should free up money to invest.

Hi Monica, I don’t know if it is too late to respond to your question. I’d advise you to use that money towards your car loan and ask the bank to lower your loan term, that way you save on interest rate they charge you on the monthly installment and you pay off your car debt quicker. Nicolette did a video on this, if you can just look for that video. It’s informative.
