Hey Joe! Thanks for another great video. Quite selfishly I have an idea for your next 7.3 project. Remote start and alarm system! Every 7.3 likes a little time to warm up and obviously anything is an improvement on the security system. There are very few videos detailing the install and I think the world could do with a Living on Wheels take on it.
Good timing Joe...ive had an Atoto unit waiting in my garage for a year or more now to put in my early 99. Had the metra wiring harness and just got the brackets and heat shrink splices in the mail last week.
Hi Joe , just joined 🎉. Glad I found your channel. The Boss radio install was perfect timing. Used the links and ordered all 4 items. THANK YOU FOR SHARING SOME GREAT INFO .🤩😊🏆💯🔥👍🏻
Thank so much for Explicitly explaining that the Radio to truck harness will be Color to Color. I bought an XTRONS rotatable tablet radio for my Excursion, and their instructions are in Microscopic print, impossible to read... and no explanation at all as to what each wire does. some of the leads are labeled, other are not.... now I have hope to get it right the first time..... never changed a car radio before. the video is NOT too long, I needed the in-depth portion explaining the wiring harness, the physical part was great too, how much to trim on the dash cover.... .... the XTRONS have GPS navigation in dependent of the Internet source. nice feature. downside? as it is a Rotatable tablet, it is expensive.
Thank you for the video. The flickering light display would drive me nuts. Is there a way to directly connect to auxiliary battery for it's own power source?
For now I just turned off the auto dimming function in the radio. That stops the flickering. Down the road I’ll probably wire an inline relay to the illumination wire so that the radio can receive a constant 12v instead of the variable voltage that the truck sends. I believe that should allow it to dim properly when you turn your lights on like it’s supposed to.
Ive watched an older video of a radio install on this truck, does this radio require the usb for the apple car play or is it all bluetooth? And will the gps from your phone show up on the radio??
Thx for the help. Hey what's is my pickup worth 2000 f350 7.3 206k miles... one owner Arizona all its life been in garage all its life. Runs like new any idea what its worth. Thx
I’ve found that a dremel tool has worked best for me. Use a small cutoff wheel for the bulk and a sanding wheel to clean it up and fine tune it. I’ve also done it with a “buzzer” multi tool

That is definitely something on my list to do. Not sure if it will be next but I want to do it.
Thanks for the video.
Did this a couple weeks back.
It is handsdown one of the best in cab upgrades I have done.
Wish I had done this a long time ago
Excellent presentation! I installed the same radio in my 99 F-250 after watching this vid. Thank you.
Clean install. Love these AA/ACP head units! I put a Dual XDCPA11BT and its like a damn Cybertruck now with the huge screen.
thanks for the inspiration to put a newer radio in! love the patches

I appreciate you buddy you’ve helped so many people get there stuff done the right way and the videos are great so thank you!
Thank you 🙏🏻 you did a very good installation video to follow and learn the DIY radio installation on an old F-250 Pickup like mine..
Glad it helped

Thank you for using the links! Glad to have you!
Thank you. Really appreciate this video. I'll be doing it soon on my 7.3.

I haven’t ever had a radio install on one of these trucks not be color to color. So I think you should be good.
Joe did you put the screws back in the dash panel? If so, then how do you remove the stereo in the future? Thanks great vid
I did not. Never have in any of my trucks and haven’t had any issues.
Nicely done.

Love your Ram 3500 FlatBed and your 99 Ford F350 7.3 Powerstroke Living on Wheels Joe man ???????
You so helpful god bless you thank you
Would the 7” radio work? I’m measuring the old factory radio in mine and it’s about 7”. If so would I still need the install brackets?
Any double din should work with those brackets and the minor bit of trimming
Do You like a particular radio? Good job on the install, I like the cup holder trick!
I have had good luck with both pioneer and boss.
thanks
do you have to remove the dash like you did to install it
Technically you could probably trim the dash in place but it’s so easy to take out I’d recommend that.
Ive watched an older video of a radio install on this truck, does this radio require the usb for the apple car play or is it all bluetooth? And will the gps from your phone show up on the radio??
This specific radio requires usb and when connected is can utilize the phones gps.
LET'S GO 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Does that radio have GPS navigation.?
Only through your phone.
I have a 2002 F250 super duty. I have a 6.2 screen. Can I install a different screen size?
As long as its a double din it should fit
Thank you!!
So the brackets don’t mount to the dash for support?
They clip to the bezel piece on the sides. That’s the only connection. Haven’t had any issues with this setup.
Thx for the help.
Hey what's is my pickup worth

Would rhe 6.75 with camera version still fit and if so does it yake the same adapter and install kit ? Mike
Yup, everything should still work the exact same. The 6.75 version just removes the volume knob and the screen goes that way a little more.
What did you use to trim those edges off?
I’ve found that a dremel tool has worked best for me. Use a small cutoff wheel for the bulk and a sanding wheel to clean it up and fine tune it. I’ve also done it with a “buzzer” multi tool
Yeah but all the fun of asking your bud to grab a cassette from the glovebox is lost!
Can't wait to get mine in
