I absolutely adore this series. As much as i love historical accuracy, i dont think that my loom will be made of wood-- not only would it be pricy where I live, everyone in my household has a disability and wood is just far too heavy to be practical. But thanks to this tutorial, I know just the size and shape of PVC pipes to buy to get this whole thing started! Thank you for this entire series, and although I'm definitely late to the party for this series, I'm excited to see how it all turns out
This series of videos are beyond wonderful. Out of the blue, I have developed and obsession with neolithic weaving techniques. None of the other videos showed the detail I needed to made a loom at home. This is exactly what I was looking for!
This is FANTASTIC. I can’t wait for the next video on this. I want/need one of these in my life. I’ve always wanted one (ever since I heard of them, and saw them in use) and I’ll be following your journey avidly as you show us how. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi, we've just done some much-overdue gardening at my fella's place and removed a bunch of self-set trees, mostly maple. Seeing that a lot of them were pretty straight and quite large - a couple we had to get out the chainsaw - I figured a warp-weighted loom (and some replacements for the sawn modern uprights for the Saxon tent) was a better use for them than firewood. Unfortunately, the thicker ones that looked good for the uprights didn't have any good forks - either the branch was too upright, too thin or too high up so a piece cut to length from there down would be too narrow to get reasonably sturdy pegs in. Would it work to put angled pegs near the top to support the clothe beam?
@@SallyPointer brill. Earlier this evening I discovered that whatever most of the wood is, the bark will just peel off. Very satisfying. The biggest pieces are Not That and the only knife I have is rather blunt so possibly off to the shop in the morning...
Oh, this is delightful! I am writing a book and needing to research some basic older types of weaving and I couldn't get the images of this type proper in my head. Thank you! The only thing I might ask is if someone could possibly add some captions to the video. The auto-generated are problematic, especially with the occasional wind, and I'm hard of hearing so I can't decipher the words. Thank you!
Contact info for froe coppice wood products. And I would like to thank you for your expertise in making a warp loom. I would like to talk more to about loom pattern design. Maybe a future video.

I'm so pleased they are helpful 🙂
This is exactly what I searched for long time. I need to understand the loom sytsem to build one myself.
Looking forward to part 2 !
Thnxs for uploading and sharing this
👍🏻🇺🇸
Fascinating video, I'm really looking forward to coming on the journey with you
brilliant, really enjoying your channel! the horseradish fiber worked out very well!
Can’t wait to see how this project works out - might try and make one for my year 3 class next year!
Once I have enough room I have every intention of making one of these!
The lovely thing about a loom like this is how little space they take up compared to other loom styles.
Sally Pointer Very true, unfortunately I’m in an apartment right now and my room is a disaster lol

Oh and getting the wood from a Uk-based coppice place isn't really feasible as we're in Sweden.
Sure, that's a good option if you don't have forked trunks

Nice one Sally. Looking forward to seeing these come together. What kind of fabrics will you be creating with these looms?
Initially I'll set them up for tabby weaves, further down the line, twills will be nice.
