You keep the belts you won. Colby still sees himself as a champ and so do his fans cause he never really lost his title in the octagon. They did him kinda dirty though with the quick turn around after going 5 rounds with RDA and getting a surgery and they stripped him. Conor technically wasn’t champion in the lead up to the Khabib fight but he never lost his title in the octagon. It’s good promotion too which is what Conor was going for at the time and what Colby is trying to do.
I agree though the new belt sucks. I like the concept of it of adding stones after every title defense but it looks like trash.
