Yuji isn't a vessel for Sukana, he's a cage for Sukana. Itadori was genetically engineered to be able to host Sukana and also not be taken over.
Bit wrong he was meant to be a vessel but turned out to be better than expected making him a iron clad cage

One thing you missed is that Kenjaku would most likely still make Itadori eat at least one finger. So Itadori would still be there.

yuji being able to control 15f sukuna shouldnt really upscale gojo since yuji is a premade vessel, not the one in a million type, meaning hes a cage for sukuna, take someone like megumi for example, no matter how much willpower he has, hes not regaining control unless sukuna swaps bodies

it's not about yuji's will or physical strength, itadori was a pre planned phenomenon created by kenjaku to be able to handle sukuna, yuji is a death painting
If gojo managed to control sakuna and eat the 20 fingers that would be 🗿
the only way for the story to end happily in this case is for Gojo to defeat Sukuna himself with 20 fingers in Sukuna's Soul Domain and make a pact with Sukuna that he could not use his techniques to not harm any human being, only curses, ae the two would necessarily coexist and would not need to worry about Sukuna or Gojo, but if Gojo lost, Sukuna would be the one who would choose the conditions of the pact.
The eventual binding vow between them would be a lot different then what we got originally that’s for sure.
Gojo and Sukuna would fight over the body constantly, making it impossible for them to fight properly, the only reason Yuji was able to suppress Sukuna is because he was made for that.
1. Gojo and Sukuna would be constantly fighting mentaly, Sukuna suppressing Gojo technique and his own sometimes, while Gojo making Sukuna enable to use Limitless and even Cleave.

Sukuna can take control of any human if the human eats a finger, but if a curse eats a finger they will only increase their power without sukuna manifesting it's contiosnes, in the case of yuji , he is half curse and half human, the human part helped sukuna manifest but the curse doesn't let him take control of the body.

Even though Gojo is one of the strongest there is no garuntee that he would have the tolerance to be able to have Sukuna’s finger I mean Yuji was engendered to be able to hold Sukuna and Megumi is Toji’s son so maybe that could explain his resistance

I would argue one thing and that is if someone's body is possessed and they have a domain technique it is uncertain that the incarnated can use that domain. Like the CT is engraved in the body, however the domain is highly dependent on the vision the sorcerer has of the domain (his inner ability) - think of how Sukuna and Gojo can freely manipulate the conditions and effects of the domains (also range). I would argue that the domain is tied to the soul but it could just be that Sukuna didn't find Megumi's domain interesting/useful enough to deploy even once. On Kenjaku's note, we just have no idea whether he ever possessed anyone with a domain technique (it is likely tho).
