Since the coronation of King Charles in 2023, there has been much speculation about their visit to Australia and Samoa. However, plans were put on hold earlier this year due to the King’s cancer diagnosis.
Buckingham Palace has now confirmed that this fall, the King and Queen will finally be able to fulfill their promise and visit Australia and Samoa. Unfortunately, New Zealand is not included in the plans.
The visit is particularly important as the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting is being held in Samoa this year, and King Charles is expected to attend the gathering of 56 nations.
The trip became possible thanks to careful planning and consultations with the prime ministers of these countries, despite the King needing rest.
An official palace statement reads: 'In close consultation with the Australian and New Zealand prime ministers, and with due regard for the pressures of time and logistics, it has therefore been agreed to limit the visit to Samoa and Australia only.'
Their Majesties express their gratitude for the support and understanding of all parties involved.
