I have ridden Nemesis and 7 other B&M inverted coasters. Nemesis has great pacing and is what I would call a "Down and dirty" coaster. Black Mamba at Phantasialand, Germany is similar, in that it stays in the ground. I really like Montu. Duelling dragons was a great pair of coasters before they were renamed, then pulled down. Nemesis has a huge following in the UK and I heard there were people queueing for 5 hours to get on it today. I am not in the UK at the moment, and I am looking forward to getting on it, now it has been retracked and rethemed. The theming was looking very tired, and the track was very rough when I rode on it last, around 8 years ago. It was a great ride when it originally opened in 1994, as theming on coasters was very rare in the UK, at that time.
Thanks for the great vid. It's SO nice to hear a non Brit appreciate the under-stated genius of this coaster. I'm biased. I've rode this puppy 100s of times since it's launch in the 90s. It's a ride that I know so well but it's never boring. She rags you about and can, even now, turn your legs to jelly but will always make you feel euphoric. And John Wardley. He's the GOAT!!!!
I grew up super poor. My sisters went to a different school to me, and once per year they went to Alton Towers, 200 miles away. I was jealous for years. I saw the adverts and nothing excited me mote than Nemesis. It was iconic in the 90s. Aged 26, I finally visited with my sister and we beelined for the ride. I'll never forget it. The rush was insane and its never been matched. Well worth the decades wait❤
The more days that pass without me riding montu and my 2021/2 rides nemesis have made me appreciate this coaster even more. Almost to the point of it being my favourite coaster in the world
Yeh living just 30 mins away from the park ive been many times, even before it had rides. Love the Nemesis and ridden it in the dark on Bonfire Night (November 5th), its awesome.
A bit harsh to come for The Smiler like that. It also came out of the same restrictions and is a superb coaster. The fact that it is capable of some amazing duelling is a level of excellence that shouldn't be possible on a coaster in a tight spot.
@SonOfFurzehatt although I don't know what a GP is... Are you actually serious?!? It was very clearly a joke. Not only do I love them, I've been on the smiler multiple times. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you've had a long day and aren't thinking straight. A peice of genuine advice though, turn your brain on before you type next time
@@Simon-lt6fe GP = general public, i.e. people who don't get into detail about amusement rides. The ones who are afraid of them love to bring up the Smiler accident at every opportunity, even though it's not the worst accident on record.
@SonOfFurzehatt I'm sure they do. But you must admit, when using a term like duelling in relation to the smiler and given the nature of the accident, you were begging for a comment
Been on nemesis plenty of times, it’s the only ride where the helix is the best part of the ride. And that’s not because the rest is bad, it’s because it’s that intense
I never knew one of my favourite rides as a kid was such a cult classic. I feel almost vindicated knowing that when I rode it that first time, the joy I felt was truly something special! Also, having ridden Montu, it's great but I couldn't shake the feeling that Nemesis did it better...
I literally have a family photo of my parents, brother and I stood outside Nemmy opening year (sadly I wasn’t allowed on, though I’d ridden The Big One earlier in the year, I love the idea of a 7 year old allowed on a hyper but not one that goes upside down). They did also have the weirdest marketing campaign, they made a Nemesis drink, it was liquorice and blackcurrant flavour.
@JakeCoasters Nemesis Inferno is a great ride, too! It does have an unfair reputation because of it's name, but it is my favourite coaster in the park and my first major coaster.
@aspeyal8239 I rank all of Thorpe's major coasters similarly, but I love how nemesis Inferno is whippier than swarm, making it feel more intense. The vest restraints also dig into me a bit. If stealth was a bit longer and had lap bars, it could overtake Inferno
If B&M ever made a Ski Coaster, they would compete with the Inverted coasters built by the same manufacturer where you have 2 types of B&M models that are inverted, one where you'll have your legs hanging and the other where you'll be standing up with a system for restraining a passenger … which guarantees both adequate restraints of the passenger while ensuring greater sensations as well as better comfort for the passenger during the journey on the roller coaster while running on 2 signal rails below.
So what’s the difference between the Arrow Pipeline and a Togo Ultra-Twister as they have so many similarities. Also Nemmy is a top 3 coaster in the UK
Yes, there is certainly a similarity there for sure. Togo just happened to crack the code. You can also see similarities in the Arrow/Togo stand up designs if you watch my Pipeline video. Again with that one, Togo figured it out. Kind of a red flag for Arrow's eventual demise
I feel I may be a bit cursed as every Invert I've ridden has ended up on the scrap heap both the Duelling Dragons and OG Nemesis so I'm slightly scared of riding Nemesis Reborn.
Have you ridden Nemesis? Is it your favorite invert?

I will in April
I rode it in 2019, and it is still my favorite invert to this day.
Yes but I prefer Montu. Nemesis is something else though
Nemesis gotta be the best inverted and if it wernt it definitely is now 💯 definition what a coaster should be !!

As a Brit I Really appreciate your recognition of this ride and awesome narration of this video. Like and subscribed.
Thank you, there are many underrated UK coasters I'm looking forward to discussing

love this thing, top of my bucket list. you can really see the influence on my favorite coaster, Black Mamba …
You definitely can!

Duelling? You mean like how the Titanic had that one duel with that ice berg? Or how Richard Hammond duels grass at every opportunity?
@@Simon-lt6fe Oh, look, we found a GP who is terrified of roller coasters. What are you even doing here?

Glad you enjoyed it
Great documentary content
Thank you
If I had a nickel for every inverted coaster called nemesis in the UK, i’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
I view Inferno as the sequel, and I hope Thorpe somehow expands on the storyline someday in the way that Alton has
@JakeCoasters Nemesis Inferno is a great ride, too! It does have an unfair reputation because of it's name, but it is my favourite coaster in the park and my first major coaster.
@@danielward4868 How is it better than stealth or the swarm? You could be right because I've not Thorpe park yet.

@danielward4868 I know the launch isn't as punchy, but if you want lap bars on an intamin accelerator in Europe, Red force is likely your best option.
The Smiler's layout is just as much of a masterpiece as Nemesis' given the limitations. Colossus would be a better example for what you're saying
4 heartline rolls in a row looks great in marketing but is honestly boring on the ride
I'm not in the Smiler fan club tbh
@@PineaFan are you thinking of the right ride?

It's just retracked.

Thunderlooper was aswome
Ha the wasps will get ya
2:27 PIPELINE!?!?!? 😱😱😱
👀
I can't like the video more than once! That's too bad.
Ha thank you
A Us channel covering a uk park, Awsome!
Gotta give the UK parks some love! Especially Nemmie
I want to ride it to compare it to "black mamba"
Yes yes, two great inverts
How dare you disrespect my smiler....
Its just a mediocre Invert not a masterpiece by any means
What would you call a masterpiece??? Im intrigued
@drjamjam3188 steel vengeance iron gwazi arieforce one the voyage and skyrush
Iron gwasi and steel vengeance top class , but i was more on about inverted coasters whats better/History better than Nemesis
Have you been on it? It's my #4 and I rank it above the likes of Toutatis, Taron, and F.L.Y.
You think its better than toutatis?? And thats a good coaster im doing that this summer Parc Asterix here come🎉 @@TheWolfXCIX
