C&R only having 500K subs is ridiculous. The team shares more useful firearm knowledge than guntubers with over 1 million subs. Thank you C&R for the many many years of study and hard work you have poured into your product.
it's because Othias and Mae focus on being excellently informative - not slop-entertainment that can be watched for thrills with half your brain on like Garand Thumb in some cool military cosplay making "tip-to-butt" jokes. I've nothing against that kind of content but it is what it is Sadly, more "academic" content (idk how else to phrase it) is not easily consumable by general audiences. The best content is in small niches.
@AdamOwenBrowning I completely agree with you. Learning the history and the mechanical ingenuity of firearms and their creators causes you to appreciate the right we have to own the creations. Garand Thumb et al should be watched in conjunction with C&R, Anvil etc... in my biased opinion. Lol.
An episode on Nambu Kijiro would be cool, the "other John Browning" no doubt has some very interesting oddities that he created throughout in his career.
Pál Király one day hopefully. His sub-machinegun design was sooo close to inventing assault rifles a decade early, but ammunitoes design was not advanced enough.
Hope we see a Colt biography eventually too, I’d love if there’s some biography’s for the most influential gun designers of history, or atleast the history C&Rsenal has covered
I enjoy this greatly. My father was a JMB fan. I have a falling block single shot lever action in 6mm REM, Ithica model 37 pump 12GA, 1911, Browning high power, all are his design.
Given that the breadth of John Moses Brownings works in firearms, it's going to be difficult to do a "quick" biography. A good amount of his works are still in use, both in firearms technology and the various cartridges he made. Firearms wouldn't be the same today without him.
OMG..HUGE Laughter...."I pointedly look down at the passenger seat, he looks at the seat and sees the 12 ga shotgun laying there (scene cuts to intro sequence) Hi I'm Othias"..... where's that patreon page at....
28:11 this reminds me of the Krieghoff Semprio rifle, at least if I understood it right. The Semprio is cycled by pushing the handguard and barrel forward, while the bolt stays in the back because it is fixed to the rear part of the rifle.
I would have been happy with a clip show combining all of the Browning biography segments from previous episodes with some new footage to fill in the gaps. This is fantastic. 👏
Ah my favourite gun designer... really interesting episode, and looking forward to part 2! Also really looking forward one day to an episode on the 1887 shotgun hopefully, that would be a dream!

The Browning museum in Ogden, UT which is like 45 minutes from where I live is well worth the visit. It's in his old house and I reckon anyone who would be watching this video would probably really enjoy it.
My ancestor hunted with browning in pleasant view utah and my farming great great grandfather said I'm tired of pumps browning made the auto5 to make hunting more fun. Browning just took ideas and made them reality.
Thank you. All those patent filings are great as a historical record but there was a lot of money spent on fees and attorneys that didn't appear to result in commercial use.
Another great deep-dive informative video from you folks at C&R again, as always. One question I have is who did those early patent drawings for Browning; was it the man himself, and/or his brothers, or someone else entirely? Another question, quite how much had JMB earnt in patent fees and royalties by this time? He deserved every penny, but it would be nice to know.

Saddy the YT algorithm does not like recommending them, thankfully the team is more concerned with making a good product than making YT happy.

You know it's a serious episode when Othias has the locks on full display with no hat in sight.
It is mildly frightening
For a little while I couldn't tell what was different about this one but then I realized.... there's no hat!
@@robertfox1401 Same i couldn't figure out why I thought he was looking sharper
Gosh I hope this turns into a series on other inventors. Colt, Mannlicher, Stoner eventually

Doubt it. This is filler was kinda expecting another mondragon episode
Pál Király one day hopefully. His sub-machinegun design was sooo close to inventing assault rifles a decade early, but ammunitoes design was not advanced enough.
Don't forget Vasily Degtyaryov
What did colt invent?
Never heard of him but he's going places. Good to see you give a spotlight to the little guys.

Hate to break it to you bud, but he dies.

Great Video!
There is a JM Browning museum in Ogden. It is pretty awesome.
There's also one in Nauvoo, where I used to live. They've got his original workshop preserved and everything
@@arfyego0682 Wish I would have seen that when we went through Utah.
@@arfyego0682 The one in Nauvoo is focused more on his father Jonathan
@@peteranderson037 Yeah that's what I meant, probably should've spelled it the long way to avoid confusion lol

As an opto-mechanical design engineer I take a lot of inspiration from JMB. Simple, elegant and everything does more than one thing.
GRAB THE POPCORN CONNIE! THEY FINALLY DID IT CONNIE, FOR REAL THIS TIME!!
A rare bird : hat free Othais
Because of the topic he had to take his hat of. 😉

Problem is that Colt’s history is nowhere near as well understood at this point.

I have an older Browning biography...he was the Energizer Bunny of his day.
Thank you so much for this! Lot's of anecdotes and myths clarified or dispelled here. A fantastic effort so far!!! Possibly one of your best!
This episode is an absolute banger. Some of your best work yet.
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much.
Love your Chrimmas card! Bullpup Mossberg 500 looks very cool. I remember it from RoboCop.
Absolutely Fabulous Presentation!
Awesome stuff. That John Moses Browning's a genius is beyond dispute, but so far, I'm really surprised with how prolific of an inventor he was.
Thanks!
Wake up, honey, a new Browning biography just dropped.
I've been waiting for this for years! Thank you!
Loved this! would be great to see similar episodes with other inventors
Wow! You guys are back!
It's surprising but Ballistol getting on my hands has been really helpful with the eczema I get every winter thanks to the cheap liquid soap at work

What a great episode to watch wearing my new Browning BAR shirt.
Wonderful and informative work as always. Thank you so very much!
OMG. Seeing Othias without a cap for the first time ever - priceless ❤😅.
The man, not myth, but pure 110% legend. America’s gun Jesus!!!!!!!!!!
He is merely an employee of Ian McMustache.

This is why the brownings bar shirt is so funny, I had to get one even though i couldn't get tall sizes
excellent
I was halfway through the pre release version when i got the notification for this.
I'm here for a biography series if there's more than just finishing JMB down the road.
While obviously not fire-able, I wonder if some of those mechanisms have been rendered in 3d printing to see if they cycle?
Browning and Ballistol. What more do I need?
Hoppes. For cologne.
Othias is a lot less bald than I thought for someone who usually wears hats.
Why are there no photos of JMB with his pinnacle 1911 in hand? And if there are none are on the internet I’ve looked.
