      @mathewkirk1748 ปีที่แล้ว +202

      Absolutely. The years where he just dragged the early versions around the track with precision and consistency, grabbing the last of the points, and banking hours worth of data, laid a massive foundation for that team. Same can be said about Schumacher’s time in the early Merc, and probably what Alonso will lay down as a base for Aston. These old guys are worth every last dollar in the long run.

    Red Bull is kind of company which takes a good care of its drivers, Sebastian Buemi and DC are still under RB's payroll, Mark Webber had RB money in his pocket years after he retired from F1, the company still supports Marc Marquez in MotoGP despite he's been riding for rival teams since RB-KTM partnership and Alex Albon during 2022 season in Williams had it as personal sponsor, he separated from RB just because the nature of Mercedes-Williams cooperation.
    Kudos to Red Bull, I wish we had more sponsors like it.

    • @stayfrost04
      @stayfrost04 ปีที่แล้ว +104

      Even though Alex had to separate from Red Bull Racing due to nature of Mercedes-Williams cooperation, the wider Red Bull still is a personal sponsor for Alex which is why he has Red Bull logo on his Helmet. That's how much they support their drivers. Yes the main team is Sink or Swim for drivers, but should it be any different? They are a top team, demanding excellence in all departments from themselves and others, winning everything out there to win. They invest millions per driver in their development through junior categories and are actually one of those rare teams where if you have the Talent, you will get the seat one day as opposed to some recent examples where even the F2 champions don't get the F1 promotion despite being signed to an academy from an early age. They give drivers all opportunity to prove themselves and if they're good enough, they stay and they win, or else they give that opportunity to someone else. That's how it should be. A meritocracy! And as you mentioned, its not like they just leave their drivers hanging out to dry. Most of the Red Bull F1 rejects have found success in other forms of Motorsports with Red Bull as their sponsor and almost half the Grid has or had some ties with Red Bull at one stage. I just don't get the notion of hate that they receive for actually implementing a meritocracy.

      Did you happen to watch the F1 on BBC in 2011? It was the only year we got two drivers as the commentary team in a very long time. It was just DC and Brundle every session dropping a track/sim racer knowledge course. Honestly, in that season they went through everything, how and when to trail break, lift and coast, how BB impacts cornering. I'm pretty sure DC went into detail about the mp4/13's extra brake pedal, suspension setup, cornering lines(beyond general chat about the 'racing line'), engine breaking. DC wasn't long off the grid too, so his knowledge of the current cars was still very relevant. It was by far the best period of f1 commentary in the last few decades.

      Yea, clearly Liam Lawson is talking about new Formula One Cars. Don't forget, Liam Lawson drove in Super Formula, F2 and several other car classes and Formula's. Same with DC. With good social skills you can infer that Lawson is talking about Formula one in general, not just the RB19. @@definer0

    This sort of thing warms my heart. I know it's all PR, but there's also no other good reason to risk such an expensive item. But to pay respect to a great driver, to allow a race driver to experience the very first then the very latest machine of very different generations - this is what it's all about. Respect, fun, honouring those who came before you etc. And you can see what it truly meant to DC to have such a rare experience.
    It's like seeing old race cars being driven flat out rather than gathering dust in a private collection, never to be driven again. Excellent stuff Red Bull and DC.

    David Coulthard is an amazing driver and a formidable person! I met him in Jeddah in 2021, i shouted « David!! » and the guy just casually turned, said hi and engaged in a casual conversation with me! I told him how big of a fan of his i was since his Mclaren days, and his humbleness is indescribable.. He gave me 10min of his time chatting about F1 like he was a simple fan like i was, he even proposed to resume the chat afterwards in the paddock after his press conference with the top 3 drivers of the Q3!! Top lad, an example of a true gentleman, and especially a true F1 fan.. Thank you David, will never forgive that! Cheers
