At first the guy didn't quite understand where you were from. Unfortunately, many don't know how your country sounds in English and therefore don't understand. I think not everyone even knows it in Kazakh, many know how it is in Russian. By the way, in Kazakh your country is "Shotland", and in Russian "Shotlandiya".
Also in Turkestan people mostly speak Kazakh. It would be good if you said not "spasibo" but "raqmet". And any Kazakh from any city will be more pleased if you thank in Kazakh.

We found trying to say our country in the local way sometimes people still did not understand with our accent. We would try and listen to local people pronounce it and copy but it was quite difficult. We also did learn during out trip that Rahkmet is the word for thank you and to use that instead of spasibo - all of this was recorded in May so we are not ignoring the advice from the comments, but we do begin to use Rahkmet later during our trip once we get this explained to us in person 😊

@@perasperaadastra78 The title of khan in the Bukhara Khanate was borne by the rulers of the Uzbek dynasties of Sheibanids, Ashtarkhanids and Mangyts.
      Shaybanid Dynasty (1500-1601)
The founder of the Uzbek Sheybanid dynasty, Sheybani Khan (1500-1510), having conquered the Timurid state in Transoxiana, created the Sheybanid state.
his nephew Ubaydullah Khan (1533-1540) moved the capital of his state from Samarkand to Bukhara in 1533. Since that time, the Shaybanid state has been called the Bukhara Khanate. The last khan of this dynasty was Pirmuhammed Khan II (1598-1601).
      Ashtarkhanid (Janid) dynasty (1601-1753/85)
The first khan from the Ashtarkhanid dynasty was Jani Muhammad (1601-1603), the last was Abulfeyz Khan (1711-1747). in 1753, the Ashtarkhanids actually lost their throne, losing it to the leader of the Uzbek Mangyt clan and the founder of the Mangyt dynasty, Muhammad Rahim, but nominally until 1785 they continued to be considered Bukhara khans.
      Mangyt Dynasty (1753/85-1920)
in 1747, after the assassination of Abulfeyz Khan, actual power completely passed into the hands of the founder of the Uzbek Mangyt dynasty, Muhammad Rakhim (1747-1758). He ruled the country with the title of atalyk until 1753 and with the title of emir until 1756. he appointed the successors of Abulfeyz Khan as nominal khans - the Ashtarkhanids Abdulmumin Khan (1747-1751), Ubaydullah Khan III (1751-1754) and Shirgazi Khan (1754-1756).
Despite the fact that the Mangyts were not Genghisids, in 1756 Muhammad Rahim declared himself khan[1].
after the death of the founder of the Uzbek Mangyt dynasty, Muhammad Rahim Khan in 1758, due to the lack of sons of the deceased, initially his grandson from his daughter - Fazil-biy (1758-1758) and after the Ashtarkhanids - Abulgazi Khan (1758-1785) were chosen as khans ). but actual power in the state was in the hands of Muhammad Rahim Khan’s uncle, Daniyal-biy, who was content with the title of atalyk.
After the death of Daniyal-biy and Abulgazi-khan, the son of Daniyal-biy, Shahmurad, began to rule the state with the title of emir and no more Bukhara emirs erected dummy khans.
