He was the comic of New York for most of the 90's. He was the man. If such a title could be bestowed, which it isn't I guess. But still ask comics who were there.
I used to do 2 comedy mics in the village one at 7pm and then one at 9-11pm in the Village in NYC and then we'd go to The Comedy Cellar right around the corner. We knew the manager and he knew me and my friend and knew we were comics so he'd wave the $15 entrance fee and just tell us to buy a drink or 2 or some chicken wings to support the club which was cool and fair. You had the best of the best comics there at The Cellar and you still do but there's a lot of new comics now and it's a little different. Anyway we'd go there after our shows a few times a month for a few years and Dave would either go on last or second to last. Every comic was great but Dave was on a different level like a notch or 2 or 3 above the best ones. Artie Lange said it and I agree that he's maybe the best club comic in the world or ever. Let's say top 5.
Imo the 3 most imitated comedians are Dave Attell, Todd Barry and Mitch Hedberg. You can go to any open mic comedy night and see at least a few people copying their style.
Woahh, somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like this was filmed at the original location of the club I’m currently getting started out at, Montreal’s famous Comedy Nest! This should amp me up nicely before my open mic set there this Wednesday :)
Vitage Dave Attell: “last place in North America where you can smoke” and “They’re about to make smoking illegal “ 2021 Dave Chappelle: “Hold my Mark Twain award…”
this guy was on stage literally every night somewhere in nyc for yrs and yrs
That’s how he became the best.
He’s a lazy bum
@@ryanjavierortega8513 guess you are known as a hard working youtube commenter. Dave is a legend.
@@magicpowers he’s funny, yeah
@@ryanjavierortega8513 you are pretty funny as well.
This was before he developed his signature cadence. You know, the one that hundreds of comedians have attempted to mimic.
He looks happy and hopeful.
He could very well be the best ever.
When Dave Attell became vintage. Still a treasure.

He really polished his stand up by Skanks for the memories

It’d be nice to know the club and the year.
Does he ever take that jacket off?
Saw dave attell in his prime many times, theres very few that were better.
Looks like 13 Amish found out. Than took a speedcourse in hitting the dislike without the rest of the village knowing about it.
Reminds me for Greg Giraldo
A lot of mullets in the crowd
Vintage
very dirty despite not cursing
Why is Ashton Kutcher the thumbnail for this?
Young Atell looks like Frank Sinatra Jr
Some bill hicks material there
One thing I wanna know is...what is this crowd?
They look like they never opened a beer can in their life.

Hey man, Paul Simon is great
he is still telling the same jokes 40 years later, but with less hair.
Someone doesn’t have a sense of humor.
Why is he so overrated among other comedians? Is it like a pity thing?
nothing funny here
