Don’t put this on Larry. She could have dropped the kid off with him before she went galavanting around town. What mom did in this video is the equivalent of a human mom leaving her kid unsupervised in a freezing cold car; Larry didn’t make her do that.

@@LungoScrungo Not much because they can't swim at all, they float. They don't know how to tend to their fur yet at this age and it's so dense that it makes them stay afloat.

I think the baby otter left the ice because he saw the fake otter and thought it was the mom. You can clearly see it at 1:43 and 1:58 , then realized it wasn’t the mom at 2:00 so it’s kind of BBCs fault lol
Nah, I don't think the baby otter thought it was the mom. I thought the baby otter was just curious.
He was curious and it's not BBC's fault the otter is stupid enough to think it's it's mother.
BBC isn't supposed to interfere with the wildlife. They can only observe.

I think that pup almost died because of the BBC fake otter cam that the pup were confused by.
I mean, why not use a fake floating ice as cam instead?

@@jediwarlock1 They do (they have lots of disguises), but watch the show and you'll understand. Otters are very hard to film. They film them year round so floating ice wouldn't make sense when there is no ice. They have decoy animals with cameras so they can be blend in wherever they go. They have an even more amazing video that is nuts, as the male otter violently kidnaps the baby from the mom when she rejects his advances.
It's not BBC's fault the otter is stupid enough to think it's his mother.

Not really. Otters don’t have a lot of excess fat like a seal does, so they only rely on their thick fur, having to groom their coat at least 3 hours per day to keep warm in even 60 degree waters

@@dalinelababit2615 it may not have mistaken it for the mother, but it clearly went to go check out the fake one. Even if it wasn't confused as to whether or not it was the mother, it still came down to the camera getting too close and ultimately interfering

OMG!!! I was prepared for heartbreak when the title said "loses cub" I literally thought OMG mama otter will lose her baby but such a relief that mama otter found her baby in the end.

Love the intensity story as it unfolds, but as you are watching it your heart is falling to pieces you can feel the aching crush. You want to drive in, and save that little guy quickly! Your shoulders soften mom hears his cry from a distance running to his rescue!

having grown up watching David Attenborough documentaries, the natural world has always been my greatest fascination. It has inspired me so much that I created my own channel about wildlife.
