- Joey is gaining weight and strength quickly. He's a little more active now and showing interest in his environment and the enrichment toys he is given to play with. But he's still not a huge fan of water... You can watch otter pup Joey and his friends live: / marinemammalrescue

What a wonderful world, yeah. But humans have expanded so much that we don't let animals live... And we (not even most of us, probably) are just *starting* to change habits only lately.
Hopefully we'll be even more compassionate and much less selfish in the near future, tho it doesn't look like that's the case for the majority, sadly (so much cynicism...). And I'm not sure there's time, so many species go extinct already... global warming isn't helping at all, and it sure will get worse with time :(

@Nick dolphins are wild animals which shouldn't be trained, unless we're talking about rescues which need to be taught to live in the wild. Circus is not fun for animals. Dolphins are kept in the dark because they need to be broken before they can be trained. Saving animals is great, training them is not

It's a real phenomenon called "cute aggression". Perfectly normal, just means the part of your brain that responds to cuteness is literally overloaded with too much stimulus, causing it to emit the inverse signal.
Often with kittens, I find them so adorable I literally want to shove them in my mouth! It's like, externally observing them is not nearly enough interaction to experience the full level of adorableness they possess. Now, Joey was a bit too big to shove in my mouth, but it sure would've been fun trying!

I can’t look at him without feeling some sadness. I saw a mother otter lose her baby and she was clearly heart broken. I imagine this baby had to lose his mom? Death is a normal part of life but it is still sad 😭 I am glad to see this baby being taken care of nonetheless.

Silmo 77 male sea otters have been known for raping not only their female counterparts but also baby seals and other small animals they can get their paws on. They’ve also been known for holding onto the corpses of said animals so that they can continue raping them. Hope you still find em adorable 😳 😳
