    Here are my thoughts on this topic.
    People seem to have forgotten about the Landlords, who have taken a very large risk to hopefully many years down the track, they can sell and make some coin.
    My take is that many Landlords have made some serious good capital gains around COVID time. They are currently being pumped from pillar to post by the media about how they are the cause of the problem. They also have all the state government going crazy with rental reforms - Canberra has crazy high land tax and also rent controls which isn't helping. It costs a bomb to rent here.
    Landlords around Australia have gone, thanks for the large capital gains, I will cash out and pay down any debt that i am carrying or invest into Super or the share market. Guess what, no annoying issues from government or the media.
    Renters suddenly have a very large problem, and it doesn't appear to be improving any time soon.

    increasing rent assistance doesn't put money in the pockets of poor people, it puts money in the pockets of landlords servicing poor people almost by definition....
