The Avengers is the ultimate superhero film, as opposed to The Dark Knight which went beyond the genre. I cannot wait to see what Joss Whedon will do with Avengers: Age of Ultron! :D
I think there's a definite disconnect between the dialogue scenes and the action scenes, which I didn't feel there was with Nolan's films and the Hellboy movies.
big Joss Whedon fan, so looking forward to watching this. don't think i would be wanting to see it otherwise tbh. p.s. thanks for the upload. did Keromde do a review of Headhunters or This Must Be the Place? :)
pardon my naivety, but why are there video ads playing in the top right corner of the page? doesn't having a noisy ad chatting over your video kind of defeat the purpose of TH-cam?
I preferred John Carter of Mars to the Avengers. I liked John Carter throughout, but it gets better when Woola is on screen. Whereas, the only time I was really enjoying the Avengers was Loki and the spectacle at the end.
Never thought it before, but kermode is being nit picky here. I hated transformers and to make that comparison was out of order. It wasnt too dark, maybe a tiny bit flabby in the middle. But brilliant
I think I'm the only person who found this film to be actually really boring, and I really enjoyed a lot of other marvel films (iron man 1-3, thor 2, captain america etc)
even though avangers was my best movie of the year ( well laurence anyways is the best movie of 2012) i can understand his point of view.. he watched a movie and he wanted stuff..i totally disagree but he says why he didn't like the movie and i totally understand his opinion... but again i disagree!!!
What I will say is Avengers doesn't go down too well on a 2nd or third viewing...my opinion. In the cinema it was fun and entertaining...but I just can't take it too seriously whenever I see it on TV now...the whole midsection on the flyiing carrier was too drawn out. One of the MAIN problems with Avengers or any Marvel film to be honest is the lack of a REAL threat that the audience can resonate with...you already know it's gonna be all hunky dory by the end
saw it,was ok,but more or less forgot about it the next day,its only there to make money not stand the test of time unlike Prometheus that seem's the kind of movie this year that will not be forgotten and will stand the test of time!
There are a LOT of films Kermode likes. People just assume that anything other than, "OMG, I LOVED IT!!", any kind of intelligent critique of a film's strength and weaknesses, is some kind of veiled attack on it as a whole and that he dislikes it entirely.
This film is terrible!I know you can judge and compare it against other comic book films and how they have managed to juggle the characters, but hang on its really poor, for kids yes I get it, for anyone else no simply no. I laughed at it and that got me through the film, secondly the constant bemuddlement and self questioning of; why do people like this?. For me its Nolan's way to approach a comic book film or its for kids, otherwise I simply dont get it......can someone explain why I am wrong?
I saw it twice in one day in 2D ad never felt it was too long both times
The scene with The Hulk and Loki close to the end is hilarious :P
Why does this picture make me laugh so hard? I had to scroll down because I'm trying to take this video seriously.
I think people have been brainwashed into buying into the 'greatness' of this movie.
Well, that answers my question about why they changed the title of the movie over there.

Kid: "That was amazing mummy! I loved it! But what did 'mewling quim' mean?"
Mum: :-/
Quim!
I love the random ending.

haha, oh I know, I was just ranting ineffectually. Thank you for the up!
just saw it fuckin brilliant film

:)
I wonder why this wasn't on his channel
That's crazy - did they add the word 'Assemble' to the opening title on screen?
Exxxxxxactly.
saw it in 2d so i didn't get the resolution loss. liked it a lot :)
use adlock i haven't had ads for months
no prob more to come soon
pardon my naivety, but why are there video ads playing in the top right corner of the page? doesn't having a noisy ad chatting over your video kind of defeat the purpose of TH-cam?
Oh my God. Can critics stop bringing up the Hulk pants-thing? I thought it was old n 2003.

Where were the x men? Spiderman?

u must be DEAD...?? lol
Unfortunately, Fox owns the rights to the X-men for another couple of years. Sony have the rights to Spidey for about another ten. Damn shame.
Quim
What was this Chaucerian expletive Loki spouted?
Quim, as in him calling Natasha a mewling quim.
What a way to end the video

you calling people twigs and meatballs again ................ wing nut
Yeah, I know how you feel. It's like when Americans call one of my favourite films Leon, 'The Professional' - really bothers me.
I never understood why the Avengers included Robin Hood and Kung Fu Barbie.
I find the whole idea of Mark Kermode being paid to give a film a good review hilarious :)

nothing to do with me mate, ask TH-cam :)
for someone who hates comic book movies this was great. not as great as people say mind. and I liked it even before I saw joss whedons name.

Why do they insist on calling it Avengers Assemble, every single time? The name of the film is The Avengers, for chrissake.
in the great britain, the movie's released with THAT title..NOT The Avengers..or Marvel's The Avengers... Avengers ASSEMBLE.
Thinks they have been paid to rate this movie
the avengers- a loud, big nothing of a movie!

this review was more boring than the movie
