  • Our top selling skincare product in Africa is a petroleum jelly. Made from, well, petroleum. Which isn't an especially nice product to be putting on our skins. And yet we have an abundance of natural plant oils that are a thousand times better for us and that can be produced sustainably and in a way that benefits local communities. One of the pioneering brands in this field in Zimbabwe is KAZA Natural Oils, whose range of natural plant oils are sold both locally and internationally. In this episode I meet Nomusa Mhlanga, who runs the company's sales department, and she shows me two of her most-requested oils, Ximenia and Kalahari Melon Seed.
In this series I am celebrating the pioneering entrepreneurs in the emerging BioTrade sector in Zimbabwe. BioTrade has a huge role to play in building our economy and improving the way we manage our biodiversity. But it takes people with courage, vision and perseverance to make it work. This is my way of appreciating those people.
