- As part of "Villains" theme week on The Young and the Restless, Michael Fairman took a stroll down memory lane of one of the greatest and most twisted feuds in the history of daytime drama.
Fairman welcomed Tracey. E. Bregman (Lauren) and Kimberlin Brown Pelzer (Sheila) to talk about the classic soap rivalry between Lauren and Sheila; complete with baby switches, notorious catfights, doppelgangers, treachery and more!
Tracy and Kimberlin chatted with Michael from their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic for this very special virtual conversation for the Michael Fairman Channel.

Kimberlin is EXCEPTIONAL. She should have won an Emmy.
She did, several years ago, for her character on Y&R, I think.
@@rain73ful She never won the Emmy, actually. She was deserving several times, particularly when Sheila held the Forresters at gunpoint before attempting suicide.

Nurse Sheila was a great villain. But, No one could ever come close to Roger Thorpe... because you would find yourself in a strange way wanting him to succeed and at the same time you wanted Roger to stay in the jungle FOREVER!!!!! But, I never rooted for Psycho Sheila to succeed. There were no redeeming qualities.

Kimberlin is so eloquent and empathetic about her character and that is why Sheila lasted so long. She made her a human being!

Loved this! They are so fantastic! Tracy Bregman is eternally classy and sophisticated. Kimberlin Brown Pelzer should be co-writing the show like now! The way she expresses herself, you just know she could come up with some good stories! You can always tell which ones worked closely with Bill Bell. Always...
And Bill Bell adored Kimberin so much for a good reason :) or rather many good reasons :)
That's the reason why Sheila Carter became such a great villain because Kimberlin was really proud of that character and took influence from Kathy Bates on Misery. Bill Bell was a terrific writer too this makes me miss him even more and I love how he allowed Kimberlin to help create that character. CBS needs to play a lot more of Sheila vs Lauren on both shows while these reruns are on.

All great actors do that. Take terrible people that are terrible on paper that you want to choke in real life... and find some middle ground to make them as human as possible.
@@marcelparker6755 Well said and very true the best actors take those terrible people and humanize them. Sheila was well done because Kimberlin humanized her making her even scarier because you knew she wasn't superhuman and had vulnerabilities.
When the writing is on point, there is no soapier character than Sheila. The scenes where Sheila comes back to GC to blackmail Lauren with the puzzle of her and brad in bed were riveting.

Oh my goodness this is great one of the best rivalries in Daytime Lauren and Sheila and I loved all their scenes together. And wanted to say thank you to Kimberlyn for being the sweetest to me when I met her at the convention Center in San Diego CA and talking and taking pictures with me something I will never forget🙌👏😊💜💜

Fantastic to have these two great actresses finally reunited after almost 15 years. It has been too long. And I wish Sheila to return on Y&R as a powerful rich woman to fight Lauren (and other characters too) on a business level as well sais Tracey. Sheila was one of the greatest characters to ever hit daytime. I remember when i was a teen and my mom was watching Y&R. I saw her and I was intrigued. I have been pro sheila ever since.
The first time I saw Sheila Carter’s character I was t a regular viewer of the show. I was literally changing channels and stopped to listen to Sheila being confronted by her “Mother” on the show. “Sheila you are living a lie!” Molly said to her. From that moment on I was hooked! Kimberlin Brown is still to this day the only actress I have ever written a fan letter to and she sent a very nice letter back. Thank you for doing this interview! 😊
I was 4. My mom was a custodian at our county courthouse. She would take a lunch break with one of the officers. They watched YR. I remember seeing the farmhouse scenes. I fell in love with Sheila then. I remember her yellow jacket and being sad because I thought she had died. Then my mom told me she was on the other show. Great memories.
Both ladies had me rollin' on the floor when they roasting their outfits from today's scenes. LOL!!!

I love how Kimberlin Brown explains how she understands the character of Shelia and can relate to her... I think that's what makes her such a good actress and makes Shelia come alive!

Spring 92 ... when Sheila's storyline was coming to an end on Y&R ... it was some great stuff! The first catfight in the lab ... I remember I recorded that episode on my new VCR that I had just gotten for my birthday. And then all the scenes at the farmhouse. Nailbiters. It was a great time to be a Y&R fan.

Brother Michael, THANK YOU for this !! All of your interviews are great but THIS one !!👏👏👏 🎉 🎊 🎈 Kimberlin Brown and Tracey Bregman are incredible & really brought it, each & every day. EVERYONE was watching this. I was a sporadic viewer of B&B at the time & a die hard viewer of Y&R viewer, once Sheila escaped to Los Angeles, I was die hard for both shows. Kimberlin Brown really held her own on B&B, especially up against Susan Flannery. I couldn’t decide which rivalry I liked better, Lauren & Sheila or Stephanie & Sheila. They all made that an absolutely unforgettable must see for daytime. I would LOVE to see Sheila return to Genoa City. My only complaint on B&B was that show was really worthy of a solid hour not half an hour. Thank you again, Brother Michael. Excellent! It was an incredible interview & very nice to see you all. I’m deployed so this was a nice surprise today. You all be safe & well.

I was a child during their scenes and didn’t like soaps (preferred cartoons but only one tv in the house) I remember their entire storyline... GREAT actresses and wonderful writers!

OMG!! This is when daytime TV was extremely entertaining! The rivalry between these two characters is the best I have ever seen!! I really do miss it! Current daytime soaps can really take lessons from the rivalry between these two women! 😉

A time when Y&R was at it's phenomenal best. Sheila was absolutely deliciously evil and her cross over to B&B was the most most magnificent moments in daytime history. I'll never ever forget that stellar moment on B&B when Lauren spotted Sheila modeling the show stopper in the Forrester fashion show. It is just heartbreakingly sad that as close as Eric and Lauren was he didn't inform her that Sheila was out of prison and living in LA. We need the final Lauren and Sheila showdown. Both of these ladies have aged so breathtakingly beautifully.
I hope that bold and beautiful took the time off and wrote some good storylines while in quarantine.No more boring overplayed Hope,Liam,Steffy triangles.Briing Sheila back !!!

This is awesome I'm so glad you were able to bring in both ladies at the same time together after that classic episode aired earlier today. They were so funny in this interview. I've always loved Lauren's character but Sheila is truly one of my all-time favorite daytime soap villains she's probably the best ever on any soap arguably. This lady Sheila Carter was a terror to Lauren in her life. One of the best rivalries of all-time as well man Y&R needs this kind of writing to return. These villains episodes this week really exposes how bad the writing is on the episodes now. They need to get back to the basics and really bring back these villainous rivalry storylines as Tracy should get full credit on being such a great victim for the Lauren character.

Complete and WONDERFUL interview! I remember being a kid entering jr high and ppl knowing that I was a Sheila fan and when I’d get mad they say “here comes SHEILA”....wonderful memories. I talked to Kimberlin on a phone chat several years ago about being bullied and she pulled the Sheila out for it.
I WISH they would bring Sheila back but not as a character to chase Lauren anymore. That’s played out, let’s redeem her a little bit but have that old Sheila redeem herself and trying to be better but maybe let Lauren get Sheila this time.
Yeah the boat explosion was so fake. But love me some Tracey and Kimberlin. Their chemistry has always been great. Good times watching these two for decades. Sheila would liven up Y R right now.
True , all storylines 2005 was great , but the scene of the explosion i was like ommgg really lolll 90 till 95 was the VERY best in both shows , hope she will come back for couple months with Lauren one day

Loved this interview and both characters... BB almost becoming an hour was an interesting fun fact. This was the storyline that got me into watching both shows (YR + BB). Given the BB timeline, we know Sheila’s alive, and I was kinda bummed they didn’t mention Lauren during that surprise return. I hope Sheila comes back someday! 🙏🏿
Did you all here Tracey and Kimberlin say that Bill Bell, Sr. planned story lines a year in advance? That was one of the reasons why he was a fantastic writer unlike today where you can see when you watch soaps that the writing is just for plot points only instead of a long thought out story.

Everything is perfect seing her togheters talking about all those years and fights , i was expected the Pheila storyline, will be a little bit mentionne , but , Michelle was not there so thats why , it make me want to watch all old scenes all over again `)))

Lauren went over to B&B when Sheila was married to Eric so she knows she didn't die, I'm guessing she told other people in Genoa City
Kristina Zubic Sheila’s last appearance on Y&R was when Michelle Stafford took on the double roll of playing Phyllis and Sheila. She had plastic surgery to look like Phyllis to get close to Lauren and family. She ultimately was found out and Sheila was shot and killed by Lauren.
@@-Lily7415 she showed up on B&B (as Kimberlin Brown-Pelzer) not too long ago. She was working in the Italian restaurant all the characters were frequenting at the time. I kid you not.

She’s had a little work done. I’m a diehard and follow her like a hawk and she’s had some eye work done but she’s done it tastefully to not look like a cat. She’s ALWAYS beautiful!! The MOST beautiful!

It's really interesting hearing Kimberlin telling how she got the job and how it felt playing Sheila, and that she remembers sooo many details from the scenes despite having passed so many years (I remember them too, eventhough i was a child / teenager back then). I loved Sheila from the first moment she entered B&B and still concider her one of my favorite actresses, no one else would have played Sheila better than her, really
Time for Sheila's character to come back...hope the writers take note of the classic episodes and step up.....bring back the friendships, fights etc it's time

The movie The Hand that Rocked the Cradle came out and was so popular that this story line began when they brought the character Sheila on. I don’t want to say a rip-off but it was inspired by the movie. It was a really good story line. A soap classic!
That's not true, Sheila already switched the babies a whole year before that movie came out.
Messylin that would be true if the young and the restless did not know about the pre production of the hand that rocked the cradle. Kimberlin auditioned for the part and lost the role only to have the role exploited on the young and the restless. I love Kimberlin! She is an actress that deserves every award that comes her way!!

Sheila & Lauren are a Super Couple. None of the male rivalries, come close. Both actresses are brilliant. I love Tracey's idea, but bring back (Yvonne Zima) Sheila's daughter- Daisy Carter (Yvonne Zima). To get Daisy's daughter with Daniel Romallatti. Then Phyllis teams up with Lauren to protect a teenage Lucy .

Man Sheila could have given Phyllis a run for her money in terms of being bad. Kimberlin Brown was Straight A Gangsta back in the day. In The UK they would have been known as Best Double Act. When the UK Soap Opera Eastenders celebrated it's 30th Anniversary, they had the Cast Members be in their "Houses" and go down Memory Lane and you hear some amazing stories. When they did their 30th Anniversary on February 19th 2015 which is also Smokey Robinson's Birthday Laurie Brett who played Jane almost broke out of character when she almost laughed. Her "Husband" Ian told her to get out and she did.
