Hi Mike looks like you guy's had a way better whitebait season than we did here in southland . It was the wettest spring that i can remember down here river was in flood for most of the season no good at all
Nice catch bro. You must be impressed with the season you just had? Thats a decent feed you have till next season . Well deserved with all the mahi you an rubber put in👌
I think the council is destroying the habitat there by less whitebait migrating to the places they're familiar with. Lessening the dates isn't the issue i think... it's comercialisation of the product for profit over recreation just like fishing. Anyway sorry Mike i just feel for our whanau those that aren't greedy who just want a kai for our kaumatua and whanau...nga mihi❤️💞
Kia ora Lisa, I filmed some korero the other day about what I feel they have done by the river beach inlet and I like some of their ideas. Will put on Patreon when I find time to do it, this week 😬
still #1's that late, I think the shortened season is going to result well for the future Just hope the Regional Council stop destroying their breeding habitat with the rocks or at least plant something for them Kia ora Mike
@@WekaDigitalMediaNZ with the amount of people broke and selling kaimoana I think eventually unchecked there would be no fishery, 1lb and two eggs is all I need for a taste test each year. The fact you're getting #1's this late I think is a great sign
Even though its nearly a month after the season closed iv seen alot of whitebait in the awa where i go ...i go fishing there after the season for kahawai so its alsome to see whitebait an lots of kahawai

Yes I saw that you guys had a rough season and 8 weeks doesn't give you much time to catch whitebait.
Awesome 🎉
Nice collect Mike, for the season. If you have whitebait in your freezer, eat, love and enjoy. 😊😊
I have a bag put aside for a Patron who lives in the UK and coming back in April hanging out for a taste 🙂

Don't like the new season rules tbh, just not enough good days for going with the tides and weather playing up.

Hey Mike is whitebait like baby sardines? kiaora
No, completely different species. Whitebait are from the galaxias family.
Why can’t you eat the big ones?
You can but the taste is different
You can eat them, just the small ones are better. But the big ones have more flavour and are great dusted in flour and fried in butter
