My advice is to visit: SCBD (District 8 Mall and Pacific Place Mall), PIK 2 (Pantjoran), and Bundaran HI.

I think Filipinos and Indonesians are both equal in terms if hospitality and being friendly, but Filipinps are indeed more westernised and liberal-minded while Indonesians are more conservative. Both are very kind and nice. I have friends from Philippines who I considered best friends.
We are south east asian usually have common.hospitality and freindly.that is why very rare conflict in this region..but anyway welcome to indonesia.if you looking for food just pick place that looks clean.street food or restaurant .

Indonesia have 38 provinces from west located in Aceh province ( 0 KM ) to East of Indonesia in Papua. there are Sumatera province, kalimantan province, java province, Sulawesi province, Bali province, NTB ( Lombok province ) NTT ( Kupang ) province, Maluku/Ambon province and Papua province.

My German friends who keep coming to Indonesia keep saying this similar thing in terms of how people would say hello to you and even making a conversation with you, and making you feel comfortable and welcomed. When in Europe or America, you just don't get to see people interested in you at all on the street.

I suggest you be more careful when you want to shop or buy food in Indonesia, because usually many traders increase prices for foreign tourists like you. Usually the price of food is cheap, only 10 thousand rupiah, but naughty traders increase the price to 60 thousand rupiah. Many foreign tourists have become victims of fraud by traders in Indonesia. I don't mean to belittle Indonesians, but that's what happened. in my experience as an Indonesian myself.
all southeast asians are friendly. cambodia vietnam laos are also as friendly as thailand, indonesia, philippine, malaysia, etc though they usually lack confidence (they're still at war until early 90s)
