    This is the pinnacle Foxtrot - no fancy steps, just careful control of balance and flight, immensely challenging but rewarding and a joy to watch

    I remember in the late 1950s my English modern ballroom teachers used to very slowly count the slow foxtrot during practice, it was painful and difficult. But we built in the almost perfect movements and postures as our natural ability. When comes to real comp faster music, our school's students always perform the nearly perfect and correct modern ballroom dances. The Russian teachers did the same thing today, these young dancers are better than the dancers from else where. Great job.

      My teacher used to make us dance to the worse music sometimes so that when we competed we would be able to concentrate and still pull it off. When you like a song it's easy to dance to rather than when it's terrible. You can't get into it as easy.

    I watch this video weekly, really enjoy it. The extra slow beats forced the dancers NOT to cheat or non-conforming while following the music. Straight toes aligned and postures in perfect forms, soft big steps rise and fall, smooth turns and spins, etc. Oh yes, this is the real SLOW difficult top level foxtrot.

    This is the only modern ballroom comp which uses 26 BPM real slow foxtrot beats, may be for emphasizing the true slow foxtrot basics. Great jobs and really enjoyable true slow foxtrot.

    • @johnchen9930
      @johnchen9930 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Foxtrot being the most difficult standard dance, the extra slow beats require big steps, extreme rise and fall, while holding for the best posture, and add on wild sways. This is true slow foxtrot to the highest level skills. Wonderful.

      I just checked the tempo of a few dances and found that they are around 24.5 bpm to 23.6 bpm (1:014 More). This kind of speed is Ok for practice but not practical for competition unless every couple dance like world champions Lorain & Luca! It is not fair too as 1 bpm slower difference is a big challenge! There are quite a few out of timing steps here and there among these competitors! The tempo at 15:38 is 24.5 bpm but couple Evgeny & Angelina were trying to use 2 bars for every figure which made their steps look sluggishly ugly like practicing and not dancing! For a competition focusing on slower music to test competitors maybe a tempo of 27 bpm to 28 bpm would be more professional more entertaining and enjoyable to watch (considering general foxtrot competition tempo is around 29 - 30 bpm).

    • @johnchen9930
      @johnchen9930 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dixonau1793 Yes, Lorain and Luca are the best very slow foxtrot dancers using 26 BPM music. I guess the comp host carried away made few 24 songs, while others were 26. 24-26 are only for practice, I like comps that play 28 for both Fox and Waltz.

    Я просто потрясен! Хочу смотреть только такие соревнования. Не нужно приучать танцоров показывать кто из них быстрее, выше, сильнее! Давайте будем наслаждаться бальным танцем и смотреть кто более музыкальный и выразительный! Для этого нужно убрать акробатику и вернуться к основам танца! Same here, very remotely i recognized some remarks about it.
      Not against Basic at all, on the contrary. I think it's nice to see all these wonderful WDSF couples to execute this Basics. But it was really SLOW almost in the sense of sluggish here and there (Sveridonov at their turn took it on the THE next level, by keeping hovering in pivotal points, wich does need a big lot of control), but also a little "stoppage", as one contributor of comments would name that. It took a bit of the flow out of the movement at times, even with Evgeniy & Anna. Keep those Basic intros, for i love Basic style in Slow Fox, but keep in that flow please. Especially with these jaw-dropping quality super-couples.

      @@StudioMargalima Yes, 100 % agree, you hit the nail on the head. Some experiments there, and to pull these off, couples have to be super super strong. Still, these extremely slow movements were not necessarily the parts that made me think "wow" as a spectator. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this video 👏 and applaud all the fantastic couples and the people who came up with the idea 👏👍

      @@user-wx7kz6uv3s I noticed that the music was super slow, but this was to the dancers disadvantage. One of the beautiful aspects of foxtrot is the use of body weight through down swing to the up swing (all the dances actally, except tango of course because there is no usage of downward and upward swing in Tango, although weight is used, just not in that way). But in the foxtrots demonstrated in this video no one could release their weight fully which gave the movement a stilted look. Which is a shame because clearly these dancers are talented and accomplished.

    This is totally different from the recent Poland Championship, which had splendid foxtrots in a very classical style.
    The Russians do not any longer dance foxtrot, but another dance, which desperately and mistakingly puts slows on quicks in the basic steps, and which completely takes away the flow and light easygoingness.

The said Polish Championships (with truly splendid couples) were held by the PTT - a WDC affiliated entity, while (correct me if I am wrong) these wonderful couples here are with WDSF, ergo both present different style and emphasize different aspects of slowfox. Either way - a treat to watch. Best regards from Poland ;)
