Great unboxing Dave, inspired me to get the outgoing DMC-G5 very similar but missing a few of the new features on the G6. Got it on offer price of £449.99 with the same model number 14-42mm Lens as the G6 and I can claim a free 45-105mm Telephoto Lens and a free 3 year warranty through a Panasonic promotion. I consider this the next best thing to a full blown Digital SLR (which I couldn't afford). Looking forward to using it on holiday in September.
Got my G6 yesterday and loving. Quite put out that it hasn't got the nice HD branded mkII lens that your GF6 and the GX7 will have on release. Wondering if you've got the same oddity I have with mine running informal tests. ISO 4000 has the most colour shift of all the range with either side being pretty much bang on for colour. Oh this is in at least JPEG as I don't intended on shooting raw on this body.
A question Dave if you woud have to compare this camera to ona of the canon rebel series to wich you think it woud similar or better there is the rebel T3i , rebel T4I and the rebel T5i the T3I is around $ 490 dollars and the T5I is $ 799 dollars ( T4I is price around $ 650 dollars ) I I'll be waiting for your answer Dave thank you
Old Panasonics use to have a convenient ZOOM lever; it was great. This camera's not at all intuitive. It's TOO easy to push buttons with your right hand while just operating the camera. Mine'll probably stay in the box - I think I'll buy another nice little HD Flip Cam - they're brilliant, user friend and shoot pretty good clips!
Hi Dave, Great video, you didn't say whether it feels plasticky or not? being an all plastic body as compared to the GH3 which is magnesium, just wondering if it feels wood quality or obvious plastic. Thanks
hi Dave, are you able to pitch the video head to head against a GH2 (non hacked firmware upgrade version)? i'm liking the idea of a nicer screen and VF with more stable AWB for mostly video and i don't mind losing some aspect ratio if i'm gaining wifi/nfc and a standard mic. also, the faux Leica R6 looks don't hurt :)
great video review. one question. i seen several video reviews about the g6. with the audio everyone is saying yes there is a external mic input but i can't seem to figure out is there a headphone jack to hear what's coming out. is there a headphone jack?

Would like to see you compare this to something like a Canon DSLR, especially with the video.

Just the standard out of the box AF settings.
