American here love the escorts over there. If I was a rich man I would have several of these crazy restomods that are coming out. So Beautiful
..Back in the early 80's, I did 3yrs in the Army working in the Transport dept with access to an inspection pit, tools and compressor. We were all at it, and when I left, I got into small repairs and engine tuning in my mothers' garage. I remember cusomizing a Ford Capri 3.0L E, K Reg, '71. It took me 6 months. It turned out very nice, dark Burgundy with flaired arches and a crushed red velvet dash and door cards, huge tyres and TWO bright yellow radio ariels front to back and massive spotlights on the front bumper. Was a good looker for back then. Can't believe it would be 53 yrs old now..!! Fond memories indeed.
I was with you until the two yellow ariels! Ha ha! ( I had five Capris in total back in the seventies, absolutely hooked on them and fortunately I’ve had some nice Fords since then too) - Did you have a CB radio then?
@@philtucker1224 Thanx m8. Yeah, I really enjoyed working on that. I loved it. They were a fantastic looker... and so it was time to sell it, and I put it in the drive with a @FOR SALE@ sign on it , and this guy knocks on the door wanting to have a look at it. I go outside and OMG, you should have seen HIS Capri..!! It was absolutely awesome. You've never seen anything so beautiful in your life. Obviously, alot of money and resourses to do that kind of job. You could just open the doors in my mums garage and I had a hydraulic jack and axle stands and a #25 tool box from Halfords. Good 'ol days. I loved that Capri and loved them ever since.
I know exactly where your coming from 👍
@@jaygabby5349 Essex?
Hands down, one of the best cars featured on this channel
We don't see things like these anymore.
After the super charged capri😂
I think I would have prefer it with the BDA engine and webber throttle bodies 👀
Me too.
Probably made a lot more power, and been lighter too.
Make one then, lets see what it would be like
And would you prefer the extra £30,000 bill to have that in there? 🤔 😉 🤣
I rather choose 4.0L V8 N/A.
@@thememedealer5301 1) I don't have the money to buy a good 2 door Mk1 Escort shell, and a BDA engine, plus everything else needed.
2) Why would I have to 'make one' to see what it is like, there are hundreds of them around, and it's a perfect car/engine combination almost legendary in world rallying history. Anyone that knows cars, will know what they are like, and you obviously don't really know much.
Absolutely beautiful ride!! I’ve always loved Mk1 Escorts but sadly we never had them here in Canada. I’d give my middle nut to import one straight into my shop!
It’s beautiful Rick! This one is from when your dad was young Rick
That car could be about near perfection for me! I've spent about 35 years with that kind of build in mind for my dream car MK1. Need to sh!t or get off the pan now. *Gets spanners, gas torch and marketplace on standby...
Just do it mate 👍
Awesome man, back in the 80s I had a mk1 escort with a ford capri 3.0 litre engine fitted and yes a louvre on the back window just like yours, this so brought back some memories, I also back in the 80s had one of the only convertible vauxhall vivas with a rover v8 engine in, the roof chop was home made lol and we built our own sub frame to strengthen it, sadly some bastard stole it out of my lock up garage, never to be seen again.....
Garry bull , man after my own heart, only found out about this car when I was halfway through my Tvr’s
4.0 chimera BODY SWAP, 1964 2door cortina , not quite finished, but close, 👍
Are you going Lotus replica?
You need to meet Gary Ball he owned and built the car and does all carbon fibre parts he is now building another MK1 Escort with a Chevy V8 LS engine and I am not sure if he is turbo charging it. As for this one you could turbo it or put a TVR spec 4.5 Rover V8 in it. One thing is I bet it’s fun to drive as most new cars are a bit numb to drive
Yes Garry's new creation has a twin turbo LS V8 under the bonnet!!! 😃
4.5 litre block might be a bit heavy though for that car and upset weight distribution?
Knew I had seen this car before on Marcus Hayes channel
@@user-qx6ej7je4r I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm certain that the TVR 4.5 was the same Buick small block V8 engine with increased capacity but little if any weight trade off.
@@armoris66 yes it did evolve off a Buick engine
Just WOW!
Here in the Netherlands they do OPEL/Vauxhaul or VW's, not so much the older escorts but this one is pure mad!
She's outstanding oh my... Smh one of the best I've ever seen for sure, great video about this classic, welldone👍🏾
Sounds glorious! Love that mechanical style, simplistic interior as well
This is naughty without needing a gazillion hp. Something like this will be more exciting and involving to drive than anything new or modern. UK muscle car.
What a phenomenal car and with the tasmin underpinning it's definitely close to my heart 😊.
DREAM CAR RIGHT THERE! My dad and Grandad both had MK1 Escorts when I was a kid! I've always wanted one!👌🏻🏴🇬🇧
Look up mst cars they make modern escort mk1 and mk2s to your spec if u got the ££££
@@rabc5959 yeah cheers, I've seen them before is that the one in Wales? (Trouble is they start at £100,000) so bit out of my budget tbh.. but yeah they're great cars and well glad they're being custom made! The lottery win is definitely going to go on one of them and a Ferrari.. 😉👍🏻 (& buy one for my dad before he's too old to drive!)
Ps. Gutting thing is my dad sold his one for £50! And my Grandads one was gifted for free to a cousin when he died!(I wanted them to keep it, but wasn't old enough to drive and the gutter is, my cousin sold it within 6months! -So total waste/unappreciated! And loss of what would have been an air loom!)
@EscapeTheMatrix....Read my mind, I’d love to own this.... 🙏 🏴 🇬🇧
@@WillHadden definitely one of the Best looking cars from that era! MAYBE The best looking.. like the Capri aswell..
Lol it’s a tvr
Amazing engine sound, beautiful roar.Petrol heads always prefer combustion engines then electric.Thumbs up for this one👍👍👍👍👍👍
Serioulsy old Skool legend, in the time the Mexico was a beast, Car looks great and the mods support the car it was, in this era, good work 😚
Damn Fam, the subtle styling, the presence on the road, complete with 1000kg nimble handling. What a beast complete of a car. Thanks for showing us this terror of the UK B-roads.
Oh my god I love escort mk1 s as much as my kids lol...what a motor. Congrats lad
Bro that is close to perfection, if you're a car guy you know what I'm talking about....
Built to last forever. Such a Beautiful car. Absolute weapon, sounds nice when it changes gears. Watching from Australia
Fabulous body work! I had a full metal one back in ‘73 - but just with a standard Mexico lump. Still think they are one of the most beautiful Escorts ever. (Mk2s arguably have a better performance record but the body panels and arch extensions are too square for my liking.)
This Mk1 V8 beauty "draws more attention than a GT40." Nuff said. A proper Restomod if I've ever seen one, with a 2F2F flavour. Great finish and great buy, Rick!
mk1 escorts are one of the coolest looking cars out there. had a mk1 rs2000 years ago, loved it, sold it and have regretted it since
Cosworth sounds better when Revved but I like the idea it gets an A++ for presentation, looks fun factor and appeal
Love the escort, the spec is right for the car, love it ❤
You look like you have found your mama there. Your baby. Laid back shifting and growling. Nice to see the change from your gearstick flailing antics of old. That slice of love has character. Grey Steel in Carbon.
since you asked, i believe slanted window blinds are called louvres .... Great vid 🙂
I love old British cars, especially when this stuff happens to them. Such a cool build and who doesn't love a V8?
Dream car I'm from South Africa and I would love to own a Mk1 but will never be able to afford it ❤
they used to be sold by what today is 400€, no one wanted them ,i even bought a 1300GT ,road car, doble carburator and a cortina too but 1600GT ,extra gages ,late 60´s to early 70´s
@@RUfromthe40s I always wanted one since I was small my uncle had one and still does with a 3.8 v6 with triple carbs interceptor and it's fast
work of art love it
Thanks , This The Great Car Video & Channel ! The Good Work !
Hello From Finland !
Would not look out of place in fast and furious
This ride is sick my first car was a 1969 escorts mk 1 I paid 300 notes I spent more time in the scrap yard keeping it on the road I'm telling it never looked nothing like this pure class😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
What a car.I’m from that era of Ford.Passed my test in Mk1 1300 Escort.Not a fan of the Louvres if I’m honest.Would love a Mk1 RS2000,but at todays prices,I’ve got absolutely no chance🤦🏻♂️😩😩😩
Iam to old to say the word sick .but I've said it now .cars that all the young never know about become better than anything you see nowadays just who ant turning their heads when this drives pass you I love it ...
That car is bloody mint Rick . I’ve not even seen anything as good as that for years . Great vlog again Rick
I had a tvr 350i back in the 80s, what a great sound the rover v8 made
That looks absolutely stunning 👌
It's a UK Eleanor 🔥🔥
The complete opposite, it’s a lightweight, rear wheel drive, correctly powered, perfectly balanced car. Eleanor is the girl you fall in love with that turns out to be the lunatic your dad advised you to avoid 😂
@@Mapa356 Yeah I like this explanation! - Sort of the same as the Cortina and Capri.. except their rear end was a bit naughty especially in dodgy weather.. 🤣😆
Lmao:):)
Love the rear it has that batmobile look that every child loves and yes I'm a 39 year old child and love it!
@@danielduke5059 Not at all rear wing needs be changed to me.
10 to 2 all day, every day! XD Have done many 6 hour trips 10 to 2. Perfectly comfortable.
Wild car bro looks sick
Just beautiful beautiful beautiful..I use to have the mk1 escort Mexico n I wished that I still had it as it will b worth n bit now...don't get rid of it man ✌
Thank you for bringing back “follower reviews”
I love all the bmw content but the real car reviews are one of the best parts of your channel
Ricky get that GT40 on! 👍
Supercharger 100% imagine the whine over that beautiful v8 bass!
Good god I can’t even describe how great you car look
Am in love with it all the way from the Bahamas 🇧🇸
The kind of car you build on NFS or Forza hahaha what a dream Ricky, lovely motor
Brings back memories even seeing the louvre on the back window. Honeycomb design was even more popular than original you have there. ❤
Lovely build
Can’t beat a well sorted classic 👌
One of the best classic builds I have ever seen. That car is an absolute head turner...... Sounds and looks a DREAM! I would love it with a dog box. Is it a dog box or synchro box? Sounded like the clunking of a dog box may be wrong 🫡
Bad ass project. Deserves some ITB's 👍
Definitely my style, beautiful car.
Stunning car lads
I’d swap out the 3.5L for the 5.0L TVR/rover motor that has 300bhp and fit a more vocal exhaust system. Oh and fit an aftermarket air conditioning system to deal with the interior steaming up problem. Perfect.
Insane Build
Nice video mate. Miss that car. New build is coming on nicely and hopefully will be up and running in a few weeks time. My tuner reckons he'll get around 600hp at the rear wheels which will do nicely 😁
Really nice car. I was always a fan of old school vehicles
I love builds like this. Old school, but new.
nice i had the rallye car of the mkI 1600 a RS, not the road car , for the road had a RS1600 taunus coupé still as the escort from the late 60´s but seemed shorter ,had black vinil top and was red with two extra yellow lights in the front grill and inside was all sporty with RS steering wheel sport seats and especial rallye wheels in iron, and TVR i have the first Cerebra ,what a car, still perfect today, heard a lot of complains about the Cerebra but mine had no problems and always drove it fast ,as it was made for it ,some might drove it very slow and destroyd the tune of the engine
What a little beauty 👍❤
Car looks sick
That is a beautiful car
That car is Fresh !
Like the shape; maybe would slightly prefer it in red. (Like the Mk2 I had in my teens.)
What could be done to nudge it into the high 200s for BHP?
Would be absolutely sick if it was finished properly that gearshift looks like it’s got bigger shifts than a ford transit and the key box channel looks like something out of a hummer sort that out
first bro must look worse under the bonnet otherwise we would’ve seen it. I’m alright. Love the mash of escort and TVR would be nice to see the engine with turbo and mods when it’s finished ✅
Wow what a motor ❤
Yes PLEASE! 🤸🏻🤸🏻🤸🏻
Beautiful machine! Was hoping to see under the bonnet though. 😮
What a great car, I know it sounds sad but to see this in my daily commute would certainly make my day.
Because Escort 🤘💪👌 would be a absolute beast
Gotta be the cleanest escort resto out there
😂 ok
My favouritre car of all time escort mk 1 with bda 4 cylinder with webbers
Brings back memories
Old school style proper.
Wow , lottery win job for me ,. Got mini mustang vibes.
Nice work!🧐
That’s the sickest car you’ve had on the channel to this date end of 😂 totally sick 👌👌👍🏻
Very special version
Beautiful!
Utter perfection 👌🔥
This is one cool car 😊
4.28.........just listen ❤
Is this car going up for competition. I watched the whole video with my card in my hand 😂😂
bro that thumbnail making u look 6'8. damn yo where you get them knee bolt-on upgrades fam
This is sick !!!
Lol at the misted windscreen!
@LivingLifeFast might want to give the boys at RPI Rngineering a shout they're specialists at adding power to Rover V8's
Stick with it Rick. Get it turbocharged or something. Defo Do it
Supercharge not turbo. A proper dream garage machine
My nephew told me his dad put a 6.2L Chevy engine in an Escort.
Thing is sick, but I'd definitely look into a cam, valves, lifters, guides and springs if you're going to be revving that poor Buick/Rover V8 that high, I definitely heard some float going on a few times lol.... and keep that heat in check, or all that aluminum is going to be worthless 😅
I love thisssss
Nice escort,
I bought a lovely red mk 1 1300gt escort from lenny medlars huge scrap yard 30 years ago
Remember old lenny medlars used to buy actually decent cars
The mk1 1300gt red escort black vinyl roof
1 owner literally an old lady who took car to local garage they put 2 new Ford wings on it and mot car about to respray the wings and the old lady passed away
Lenny medlar used to buy hundreds of cars from the auctions
Anyway I chopped the roof to 18 inches
Put a essex V6 capri engine and gearbox propshaft and axle
Obviously I had to have certain things cut and trimmed and I had to put bubble arches on the car
Man it drove fantastic until it always happened when you're young with a young family you get a ridiculous offer
And you sell the car
The other was a red mk1 3l twin headlights 3l gt gtxl black vinyl roof lol. Mint condition
I had lowered the car and tuned the engine until it blew up
So I fitted a rover 3.5 V8 engine which was really easy just had to have prop cut and balanced
Trouble was the V8 rover engine was made of Alloy and was much more lighter than the heavy cast iron V6 capri engine
And made the car sit 4 inches higher at the front lol
That car would topnout 150 mph straight through twin exhausts lol
My lovely gold mk3 3l ghia automatic capri
I dislike automatics lol well at that young age 😂
So I changed it to manual again pedal swap clutch gearbox few other little changes but easy enough
Had that car for number of years and few months after I got married it gets stolen
My reg FTW 7T I BOUGHT THE NUMBER PLATE just for keep sake my wife dislike the car because it was new
KITCHEN or CAR
and sadly I chose car perhaps we we are now separated 😔
My mk2 lotus cortina
Took serval attempts to buy it at auction over 3 months and eventually paid £800 plus fees
Remember over 30 years ago or probably more stuff wasn't as valuable then as it is now
Engine was seized solid
I stripped engine got it all running and washed and polished
And basically just left it in my garage for 6 years until again sigh 😕
Someone offers you ridiculous amount of money and you sell it
I think I sold car for £8000
Which sounds fantastic but 5 years after that the prices for lotus cortinas went mad
And it passed hands for £25000
And now they are worth serious money
Numous mk2 1600E cortinas
Remember I was born in mid sixties and both my sons are in there thirties but only one is a fully qualified car bodyshop mechanic
Anyway my last car i gave to my oldest son just few days ago
Ive owned it since 2002
Its a 2000 black Honda integra type R dc2
But professionally upgraded to T4 Turbo the engine had forged pistons almost everything was of high quality forged lightweight to make as much HP but to be reliable and drivable
It runs 400BHP at the wheels
And I used to go to the F1 events as security
Even met the doctor at Donnington in superbikes
He was looking at the car but I didn't know who he was and could not understand him and TBH he sounded like a little girl
Much to my embarrassment when someone corrected me
I basically ignored Rossi and told him to bugger off what a idiot am I
Coupled with that I bought and sold loads of vintage mopeds scooters and motorbikes
But sadly due to a recent stroke that why I gave my oldest son my car
What should we do about cars keep them
But unless you have the space to keep them warm and dry and fully maintain them
They will just sit there and rust or parts seize up
Great story 94, I hope you are still managing ok and have enough money etc to be well cared for. Don’t give up buddy, best wishes to you. 🙏🇬🇧
WTF bro 👍 I’ve not made a monster like that since the 1970’s where we did the same with a Ford Capri, jacked up the back end and shoved a V8 in it! 🤣🤣 To say it snake tailed alllllll the way up the friggin street would be an understatement 🤣
Beautiful bro
Beautiful car that is ❤ it
Good TH-cam channel this, abit of everything
