    Several years ago I worked as an electrician on a project to install facilities for eleven Cat V16 gen-sets for ESPN generating at 13.8 kv. I don't know if they were this model, but they were Cat V16's. Very complicated, and very impressive at the end to see eight of these engines in a row.

      I bet, should of made a video of them all running, there seems to be a good following on here, thank you for your comment :)

      I never got a chance to see testing with all of them running in parallel and carrying the ESPN Bristol campus. The Russelectric controls were incredible, and the 15 kv buss duct and switching gear were impressive as well. I just never got to see the end result. When your job's done, you don't hang around, you get re-assigned.

    This is so satisfying. The fit and finish of everything I can see in the video is excellent. Worked on a power generation project with main details I can't discuss but diesel fired (no spark plugs to maintain) natural gas fueled power generation. It was originally designed to reduce electricity costs for a factory but they've figured out that they can shut the plant down and sell power back to the grid when the price goes up and make more money.

    2.4 mega watts PRIME RATED means this will run CONTINUOUSLY at that output. Keep the fuel coming and the only time you need to shut down is for normal service - filters, etc.

    the fans may bring a lot of air into the cab,because the engine need a lot of him. if one fan stops and the others dont have the capacity the cab may have negative relative pressure,and the air intakes for all the clearances exist,and some doors may open is they are not locked.

    The place is so congested to do maintenance work in future,

    • @brockm808
      @brockm808 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those enclosures are for environmental control and air intake control/filtration for the engine. Over sizing it would be counter intuitive since it would make control more difficult and require more material which means more money. And if you consider how much maintenance is done on this engine it would make no sense to spend the money. Change filters, top up oil, and do routine checks while its running (i.e. poke your head in and make sure its not too hot, has oil and sounds normal). Other than that these engines are built to last and any major repairs would be few and far between, and if major repairs are required there will be access points and disconnects so they can do work on any part of the engine. Also note the enclosure is meant to reduce the incredibly high and constant noise levels generated, so this man should have hearing protection at all times near this while it's running.

      Alex Anderson yeah right. All American diesel shit all over Volvo’s. I’m familiar with the trucks, and constant head cracking and gasket problems make them less than desirable

    • @justinmartin8887
      @justinmartin8887 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oliver Mayo it’s true. Volvo makes very unreliable engines

    • @justinmartin8887
      @justinmartin8887 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oliver Mayo no, I’m not saying they are all wrong, but in the USA there’s better options. I’ve never heard over a Volvo going over a million miles without a problem, whereas the 6nz, signature 600, and series 60 do that constantly.

      its takes such a 4 joke crap piece of junk to drive an 11'500v generator, But the c-175 has room to cut ports into for a 2 stroke mod1, there lots of room to CNC laser or plasma cut a custom port pattern and a dry sump oil injection feed with synthetic 2 stroke or castor bean oil, something like this:www.4btswaps.com/attachments/2cyclesbc-jpg.6839/. i ssume this is some type of 2 stroke conversion driving this generator!

      The guy that designed one of the systems I installed, told me that means the back up generator needs to be at full power in 10 seconds or less to meet that NFPA standard, we weren't working at a hospital, but apparently the one meg generator we installed was hospital rated, the starter spun that thing up so fucking fast it was crazy, it was at full power in about 8 seconds, I've only done a few, neat stuff.
