This was a beautiful tribute. Victor Fleming, however wasn't responcible for the special effects in the Wizard of Oz. Every special effect you mentioned was made possible because of Arnold Gullespie. Victor Fleming was responcible for directing and making the film come together. I agree that Fleming deserves to be highly commended for his contribution to the movie!

I clicked on this because there is a 25 minute extra on the WIZARD OF OZ DVD called "Victor Fleming". Before I watched it, I said, "Who the ____ is Victor Fleming?" 25 minutes later, I said, "Victor Fleming is the greatest guy who ever lived! Except that slapping Judy Garland, that was a little odd!" So I looked on TH-cam to find out more about him, and I see this -- the only specific detail of his life they mention is the slapping? That's like reading a bio of Abe Lincoln and all they have about his boyhood is, "When he was 10, Abe kicked a dog, the sadistic bastard!"
@LionsAllday DETROIT I guarantee you if a director of today slapped a Petite 16 year old female actress with the amount of witnesses on this incident he’d definitely spend time in jail.
