    A few more points that molly was not aware of. There were volunteers who went to the pharmacy for meds and delivered food to those over age 60 and to those at risk unable to go out and to those in quarantine.
    I was even given a new $25 phone charger. They were lifesavers!
    Also today in israel it was announced that igg antibody which provides passive immunity to the one recieving it, was administered to a patient whose lungs had turned white, and for whom ecmo didnt work. The patient is recovering now in haddasah hospital.
    This is the 1st time this treatment has been tried in any hospital.
    Its not plasma therapy

    I live in israel and wish to add a few pts. Concerning vit D everyone is tested for vitD during routine blood tests. Doctors tell patients is they need more vit d. I know 2 people whose doctors told them to take it.
    As of tonight there were 459 new cases discovered in the last day. The cases are going up and some areas of tiberias and other places are on 1 week lockdown
    The new cases seem to be young people. There were some people who were young and terribly ill before but mainly older people
    I was tested for covid 19 without having a fever and no contact with someone who had it
    Am trying to get the antibody test
    The cases started rising as they opened too quickly. It started in schools. Kids and teachers should be tested before going back to school , not just after cases discovered.
    I am older and living alone. Spent passover alone

    Israel did a great job with the covid-pandemic. They were the first to use the word pandemic. They proactively produced high quality masks, helped NewYork and many other countries in the heat of the fire, They were very quick operational simply by Changing parkinglots into an underground hospital. They only had to rewire the place. They helped out Italy at an early stage. An airplane from Qatar carrying humanitarian Goods for Gaza was admitted to land in Ben Gurion. ElAl kept on flying helping others... and all of this was not in the western media. 👍

    I watched the entire interview - most interesting to hear about Israel, especially how they have concern to take care of their parents and grandparents. Here in the UK we don' t have that so much, people seem a lot more individualistic, and that makes asking them to be community minded quite difficult for the government. As a grandparent, I have missed my 3 year old granddaughter the most, but all 3 of my sons have been compliant with all the measures - truly concerned to keep infection away from me and their Dad. Now that we can have socialisation again, outside , keeping distance, it is bearable. We cannot yet hug and kiss ( very hard for me!) but at least we can be together again. I am puzzled as to why it's ok to be thinking about opening up pubs, but somehow I can't have my family in my own home. I feel there is very little risk for any of us in meeting up again indoors, but huge risk to go out and be in a cafe or pub, or even in a shop where masks are not mandated. For those of us who have been compliant, the risk from gathering in one home together must be practically zero.

      @carol you make such a very good point. I am much more comfortable increasing my "bubble" gradually and carefully with a small number of people who I know, in an environment I can control, then going to a public place with strangers like a pub or restaurant. Very odd "public health" priorities.

    In Israel we had an early and pretty strict lockdown. But it took the ultra-orthodox community many weeks until they started complying with the new rules.
    For this reason they were the most affected group. But the overall impression is that even amongst them, no real catastrophy has ever happened;
    There has been only 300 dead overall - nothing like the awful pictures we've seen from north Italy at the time. So, many people think now that this pandemic was exaggerated in the first place in order to intimidate the public or serve the current controversial government. There is also a claim that the current surge in cases is in large part the result of abundant testing -
    At the start of the pandemic, test kits were scarce, so that many asymptomatic carriers of the virus were not known to contract it, but this time such carriers can easily be tested and are counted as covid-19 patients when in fact they are not really sick. I very much hope they are right...

      SisterRay100 in northern Italy the virus circulated since November and it was only detected in February when it had already spread to a huge amount of people. Most probably in Israel it arrived much later hence it had not spread as much when public health measures were taken.

      Anna Twink yes ..feel sad about how it was mooted ...at least at the beginning in the UK that old and sick people were the only ones who got it badly and young people often didn’t seem to care ..or large numbers of them ...even sadder is Sweden’s policy. In the Far East the elderly are respected and would be protected as such...I think as it went on..at least from a government level more care was given to the elderly but still so many young breaking lockdown and of course mass gatherings at the protests ..

    It is sos helpful to hear how other countries are doing with this virus yet sad and maddening to be in a country (as the US) to know that the Covid-19 pandemic has been so politicized that harm is being brought to the inhabitants of those countries. Way too many people are dying needlessly. My hope is that the International legal community will shin a light on those countries that have caused serious harm to their citizens by using the pandemic for political gains.

      Covid is solved surely with a mask. Not perfectly, but surely. It is also surely, I read it, that God's own intent with this heavy virus that weighs on all in the world, that we control our speech and stop poison speech, stop bad mouthing each other. So God presents the cure before the disease, the mask is lightweight and simple, available to the poorest in some form. We mask our speech, and appreciate one another, and God will surely respond, in kind.

Ideally it would be nice if there were no protests but the cause of these protests have been brewing for well over 150 years here. It is not the protester's fault that nothing has been done to fix racism that in built in to many of our public institutions and policies. Very interesting interview. Following on from Mollie's comments, it's interesting the Coronavirus cases in Jerusalem were 4,106, wheres in Tel Aviv there were 1,005 cases. The population of Jerusalem is double that of Tel Aviv, but that still doesn't account for 4x more cases in Jerusalem. Therefore it really does seem the more religious areas have suffered because people cover up more and get less Vitamin D, which would add more weight to your theory.

Through the recent years, in more than one country, several official reports had pointed towards that catastrophic situation . How do I know? I know this since my dearest grandmother her soul rest in peace has survived Auschwitz-Birkenau REAL concentration camp.
      Her 3 young children Naomi, Robi and Shmuel aged 7, 5, and 3 years at that time, were forcibly taken from her hands and killed with gas, and then burned.

      All things considered, vitamin D optimization is likely the easiest, least expensive and most beneficial strategy that anyone can do to minimize their risk of COVID-19 and other infections in the coming months. Health authorities are already warning of a second wave of COVID-19 in the fall, which means the time to start addressing your vitamin D level is NOW.
      We also have a pandemic of vitamin D deficiency, as more than 1 billion individuals worldwide, across all age groups, are deficient in vitamin D.1,2,3,4 Vitamin D deficiency has now been identified as a significant risk factor for positive COVID-19 status,5,6 severe COVID-19 infection7,8,9,10 and death thereof.11,12 I discuss this in "Vitamin D Is Directly Correlated to COVID-19 Outcome."
      In one study,13,14 which looked at data from 780 hospital patients in Indonesia, those with a vitamin D level between 20 nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL) and 30 ng/mL had a sevenfold higher risk of death than those with a level above 30 ng/mL. Having a level below 20 ng/mL was associated with a 12 times higher risk of death.
      To improve your immune function and lower your risk of viral infections, you'll want to raise your vitamin D to a level between 60 ng/mL and 80 ng/mL by fall. In Europe, the measurements you're looking for are 150 nmol/L and 200 nmol/L. If vitamin D levels were increased in the global population, tens of thousands of people may be saved if or when COVID-19 reemerges.
      While prospective controlled studies demonstrating vitamin D's effectiveness in COVID-19 are still lacking, there are many such studies underway. You can review the status of these trials on clinicaltrials.gov.15 As of early June 2020, more than 20 studies had been launched to investigate the benefits of vitamin D against COVID-19.
      The Most Important Paper I've Ever Written
      For the last three weeks, I have been writing a comprehensive report on vitamin D in the prevention of COVID-19. The report has been reviewed by many vitamin D scientists for accuracy. This was done to develop a resource that everyone can share to help educate others. We will soon be launching a campaign to educate and inspire everyone, everywhere, to start optimizing their vitamin D level NOW. Please download my paper here, and share it with everyone you know.
      The purpose of this report is to help you understand why it is so important to optimize vitamin levels for healthy immune functions and then provide you with a detailed strategy of how to do that. This report can be used as a tool to teach your friends, family and community about why and how to be prepared for the next pandemic.
      Mounting evidence demonstrates that vitamin D has important roles in regulating the immune system that should reduce COVID-19 risks; primarily by reducing survival and replication of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and by reducing the risks of 'cytokine storms' by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine production and increasing anti-inflammatory cytokine production.
      In it, I review the science of how your immune system works, and the regulatory role of vitamin D. I also explain how vitamin D reduces your risk of COVID-19 specifically, and how it helps suppress and control both acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and cytokine storms, which is a primary cause of death in COVID-19.
      Advertisement
      Click here to learn Dr. Mercola's top tips to combat coronavirus
      Darker-Skinned Individuals Need More Vitamin D
      Vitamin D optimization is particularly important for dark-skinned individuals, as the darker your skin, the more sun exposure you need to raise your vitamin D level. Increased skin pigmentation reduces the efficacy of UVB because melanin functions as a natural sunblock.
      If you're very dark-skinned, you may need to spend about 1.5 hours a day in the sun to have any noticeable effect. For many working adults and school-age children, this simply isn't feasible.
      Light-skinned individuals may only need 15 minutes of full sun exposure a day, which is far easier to achieve. Still, they too will typically struggle to maintain ideal levels during the winter. During the winter months at latitudes of greater than 40°, little or no UVB radiation reaches the surface of the earth. That said, residence at low latitude does not guarantee adequate vitamin D levels, since social and cultural norms may limit sun exposure.16
      As noted in the MedCram video above, black, Asian and minority ethnic groups are at an increased risk of death from COVID-19. While some have blamed this racial disparity on health care access, a far more likely reason for this is because dark-skinned individuals are far more likely to be deficient in vitamin D.
      In fact, the paper cited by MedCram specifically looked at ethnic disparities in COVID-19 mortality among patients in England, where health care is freely available to all, so the health care access rationale doesn't seem to hold water.
      Vitamin D Supplementation Recommended to Quell Mortality
      The role of vitamin D is addressed in a reply17 by vitamin D researchers William Grant and Barbara Boucher to The BMJ editorial "Is Ethnicity Linked to Incidence or Outcomes of COVID-19?" They write, in part:
      "The recent BMJ editorial by Khunti et al. asks 'Is ethnicity linked to incidence or outcomes of covid-19?' Here we outline how ethnicity relates to incidence and outcomes of COVID-19 due, in part, to lack of vitamin D because of increased skin pigmentation and diet …
      A potentially important factor not considered in the PHE report was vitamin D deficiency, though mounting evidence suggests that vitamin D deficiency is an important risk factor for acute respiratory tract infections and for COVID-19 …
      Vitamin D also promotes local ACE2 formation in the lungs, an effect known to reduce the severity of acute respiratory distress syndrome. Furthermore, higher baseline serum 25(OH)D concentrations are currently being reported to be associated with reduced rates of severe COVID-19 and of mortality."
      Grant and Boucher go on to cite data from studies reviewed in "Vitamin D Combats Viral Infections and Boosts Immune System," which features my interview with vitamin D experts Bruce Hollis, Ph.D., Carole Baggerly and Dr. Carol Wagner. All of these researchers reviewed the vitamin D report I wrote for accuracy.
      Grant and Boucher recommend advising the public to supplement vitamin D daily, especially black, Asian and minority ethnic groups, indoor workers, shift workers, the elderly, those in residential care or those confined to their homes, as well as those who are obese. Doing so might reduce COVID-19 severity and prevent unnecessary deaths.
      "Vitamin D is readily available … 'over the counter' at supermarkets, chemists and online, but could be provided free to those in financial hardship or unable to access supplies," Grant and Boucher write, adding:
      "Doses of 1,000 IU/day in general and of 4,000 IU/day for those at high risk of deficiency, as above, including the BAME groups, should be advised for the duration of the Covid-19 outbreak …"

    All these local insights are interesting I ve been teaching intercultural relations for years there is a book called When culture collides by Lewes that is my favourite reference book but our favourite doctor has collected a lot of information to write a new book on how different cultures have dealt with this pandemic.. When he has the time!

    It is hotter in Sweden than in Israel. Here it has been around thirty for weeks now. And the coming days it will be about thirtyfour degrees C in shadow in Sweden. Heat warnings on tv. I go swimming every day and melting on my jetty in the mean time.

      Hej Pirjo.

Many are having a hard time financially like small business owners. Of course molly is speaking for the jewish community so im wondering what experience the arab population had. Dr. John, if everybody had antibody tests could this give a truer scope of how many have been exposed to this virus, along with when and if they had symptoms???

    • @jwarmstrong
      @jwarmstrong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @lotsofcooki3s As a hypochondriac how many illness do you think you have had - testing negative means you guessed wrong again...

    • @bobvanwagner6099
      @bobvanwagner6099 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @lotsofcooki3s Testing with containment, either in social bubbles, or geographic bubbles, like islands, hard borders, even in a nation or city: that would work long term. Back to the world of the flat earth, in other words. When 99.9% of human travel was no more than 8 miles a day.

    • @bobvanwagner6099
      @bobvanwagner6099 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @lotsofcooki3s Right, you are right, and moreover what you note about the antibodies is being born out, but given this crazy tricky virus, not completely. Since the beginning it looked to me like this virus was designed to bifurcate the immune responses, and that bifurcation seems to be nested in the various layers of the immune system, perhaps even from community to community, so that the immune system repsonse of some will vary from others and in such a way that the small cohorts gathered to do statistics on the responses will come out with reports at odds with each other. Yet we live day-to-day in social bubbles and geographic bubbles: we see the same "vectors", fellow humans possibly conveying the pathogen and the spoors, the residues that our fellows leave in the air, on the ground, on surfaces. So inside those well bordered bubbles, a few tests now and then will come to show if the bubble is safe or infected. Even though some tests will be false, over multiple tests in each bubble, continuing in time, we isolate bad and good bubbbles quite reliably. The FDA (US) made a disasterous choice to shut down the simple test kits for antibodies because they are not too reliable, they are still more than reliable enough to control and manage on this bubble basis.
