Hope you guys enjoy episode 1! Ep2 will be out on Thursday where we'll explore Fern Pool, Fortescue Falls, and the Gorge Trail through to Circular Pool. 🙂
Been watching since the old budget ranger build when you were reviewing the dune rooftop tent haha. Unreal how the channel has changed and how comfortable you are in front of the lens now. For sure one of the standout channels on TH-cam for this stuff. Well done
Karijini is awesome. We were there in July, entered on the west side after doing Hamersly gorge. We stayed 3 nights at the eco resort. It's a great campground, has toilets and a shower. 2 did all the gorges around there. After the 3rd night, we drove to Dales campground to have a look at fern pool and Fortescue falls. All roads are fairly corrugated. The dirt road between Dales and the Eco resort is very bad.
My brand new 4x4 had very poor fuel economy when I first got it as well. Now after 10,000ks it's far better and after some googling apparently new motos do chew more fuel 🤷 not sure how true that is but definitely made a difference for me 👍
Nothing like a real world test to see what works and what doesn't on a setup. I still tweak mine here and there, even though I've had pretty much as is for over 2 years.
Nice one. I did that trip a month ago. 14 walks in 4 days, dales is a great place. Better than the waste of money eco retreat. Next trip get that dmax out on to the holland track 👌👌👌👌
Just checked out your RTT on the Anaconda site and who did I see? Your channel featured on the product listing! Looks like you're moving up in the world ;) Well done and thanks to both of you for the content. Cheers
The bigger tyres won't help with fuel of course but totally worth it. Bear in mind you will be covering further distance then what the odo is reading with bigger tyres.
Definitely, we were very grateful for the tyres climbing Mt Meharry! Surprisingly, the speedo was out on it's factory tyres but is spot on now with the bigger tyres - not sure if this translates to the odo but found it interesting nonetheless!
@@explorebound the odd will definitely be affected as it calculates based on wheel rotation. Most speedos are set up to read a little under. I went from 31s to 33s and was more accurate upto 95kph after that I was going faster than the speedo was saying.
Yeah the odo will absolutely be affected, no question. 👍 What I meant was that seeing as the speedo was out by 5% which is also based off wheel rotation and is now accurate post tyre upgrade, perhaps the odo was also out by 5% on factory tyres and will now provide an accurate reading - will have to investigate.
Good start to your trip. You're still in the engine breaking-in period of your vehicle and it (engine) is still tight. Once a bit more kms gets under its belt and the engine loosen up, you should start seeing better fuel consumption (providing the vehicle doesn't carry any more weight than it does now).
Is the dmax manual? Also do those gas struts on the sleeper lock in place? I feel like a strong gust of wind might force them down and smack you guys in the face 🤣🤣🇦🇺
Sure is! Couldn't bring myself to consider auto haha. They don't lock in place and I'm definitely keen to see how it goes in windy conditions - might be a DIY hack coming soon. 😅
Thanks mate! For the mapping we just used Google maps and took two identical screenshots, one with the route and one without then did a wipe transition between the two images. 🙂
I was up there two weeks ago. It was really nice, water was a bit low in some pools but the weather was great. But you're right about the gear some people get about in. Full hiking kit for a 100m walk down a gorge. The ranger even had a dig about me doing it all in thongs.
It would be great to keep them in the tent, but it doesn't close down with them inside (even leaving the bedding inside is pushing it to be honest haha).
One way to improve economy is to drive slower. Try 100kmh. Using basic math, the difference between 110kmh and 100kmh over a whole hour is that you get to your destination only 6 minutes earlier. Not much difference in time but a big difference in fuel usage.

Thanks mate I really appreciate that feedback. 🙂
Keen to see the review on the new dune roof top! Dmax is looking good guys.
Thanks mate!! Planning to put together a review of the new tent soon 🙂
Well done mates...your tourer is not only performing well, it's also looking absolutely awesome 👏 😀 👍
Thanks mate! 🙂

Good to see you out in the new truck guys...

As always. Great clip guys thanks for sharing
Love the Pilbara colours, I think it's time to plan a return visit. Looking forward to the next episode 🍻

Sounds like a plan! 🙂
You are so lucky, no option to do that in Europe.....different type of driving and sites to see....
Nice one

Haha thanks mate! Yep been doing a bit of work with Anaconda recently 🙂

Oh that’s a great point, cheers!
@Hammer Rocks. Touché. I was about to comment the same thing, ie. the engine still tight.
West Australia bush is the best , but respect the surroundings ,you can find yourself in trouble if you don't double check!.
I would have eaten that dinner that you dropped on the ground 😆
We did try rinsing it off but the dirt was really stuck in there 😂
@@explorebound devastating 🤣 I did try your beef n red wine casserole in the camp oven on the weekend. Turned out a treat 👌
@@JenBolst Nice one! That's definitely a favourite of ours 🙂
Hey guys love the vid just wondering what Drone you use?it puts out a nice colour. Thanks
Hey guys great video. Just wondering what RTT you’ve got ?
Thanks mate, the tent is the Dune Nomad Deluxe 👍
Great 1st episode guys, hey that Dune rtt is that from anaconda???
Sure is!
Hi guys what type of roof top tent is your new one and where did you get it from
It's the Dune Nomad Deluxe from Anaconda - we're loving it so far. 🙂
What was your fuel consumpion?
The average for the whole trip was 15L/100 😬
Is the dmax manual? Also do those gas struts on the sleeper lock in place? I feel like a strong gust of wind might force them down and smack you guys in the face 🤣🤣🇦🇺

hey guys great video, what app or tool did you guys use to create the map animation. was really cool addition seeing you route
Thanks mate! For the mapping we just used Google maps and took two identical screenshots, one with the route and one without then did a wipe transition between the two images. 🙂
@@explorebound how clever it looks really well done

how come you dont keep your pillows etc in the tent? would be annoying to always have a full back seat.
It would be great to keep them in the tent, but it doesn't close down with them inside (even leaving the bedding inside is pushing it to be honest haha).
Great video, well edited🤘👌 btw what RTT are you running?
Thanks mate!! Tent is the Dune Nomad Deluxe from Anaconda 🙂
