    The 2nd salsa was always a staple in my home...my Dad being the OG that he was, tatemava all the ingredients over fire and used a molcajete to grind the salsa down
    .it was a labor of love...RIP Pops.

      Fire roasting the ingredients takes it to the next level, love it!!! I put a little bit of honey in it this last time and I definitely recommend that as well

      What does “tatemava” mean here? Is it a technique he used? I tried to research and make a similar recipe but couldn’t find anything.

    The breakfast salsa reminds me of my Grandpa, Mama, and Tia from San Antonio, my Grandma used to cook bacon cut up, remove from pan once crisp, set aside, to the pan with some of the bacon grease add a pinch of flour, brown it, then add that salsa, bacon and simmer until desired consistency is achieved. It’s perfect over eggs and oh man we had the best breakfasts and best food memories ever! To this day we make it and I’m so grateful!!! 🥹🫶🏽

    2nd salsa is my fave! i also add onion to it and tomatillo. sometimes i add arbol chiles. i use an immersion blender with the cilantro. it's also a great base to add things like chipotle. if you leave out the tomatoes and just use tomatillo, then it's an awesome salsa verde. you can always blend up with avocado for a really good salsa aguacate :)

    Just made the second one for taco Tuesday! My family loved it. I made a minor modification. I used two jalapeños and one serrano instead, as I know those serranos can be pretty mean. :) Still had a good kick though!

    • @andrewgipson3289
      @andrewgipson3289 ปีที่แล้ว

      I came back to to say them serranos are mean. I used a half one for 8 tomatoes and it was so hot not even a finger could be felt with. But these homegrown this last year are harsh.

    There's a mexican restaurant chain in south Louisiana started by a woman from Tampico, Mexico, and their salsa is the most amazing salsa I've ever had. We now live 300 miles away, and I've wanted to try to make a salsa like theirs for 5 years now. I tried your fresh kitchen salsa recipe with a onion added and Jalapeños instead of seranos, kept hot in the slow cooker. It was gone in less than an hour. Thank you thank you thank you. You've made a Cajun family very happy. I will now have a whole pot of salsa going every day. 😅

    Love the grater with the box. Enough that I just ordered on from Amazon. By the way, too much water in the salsa? Put some corn tortillas (full size) into it to absorb the liquid. Then remove and save as a chef's reward. Now, I just watched you cut your finger. I have to say that using a sharp boning knife vs. a sharp chef's knife...is not advised. More control with the bigger blade. Ouch!

    @arnietex , damn bro 🤜 🤛 ! Im a little late, finding these recipes and your channel. I’ve been missing out is all I can say. The 2nd salsa was OFF THE HOOK BRUTHA! All were great, but as you said, if any of the 3 are made, THIS is the one! I have to agree.
    Honestly, I’m NOT much of a salsa guy. I mainly dunk a tortilla chip in it for the juice/water flavors. NO vegetables at all, as I’m not a veggie kinda guy. However, I can, did & will load up a chip from now on with this one recipe! AMAZING is simply an understatement!
    Thank you for learning me! Haha! This many years old to make a salsa for the 1st time and the 1st time was great! I can only imagine it getting better from here on out! Thank you for the content, your dedication, your passion & simply taking the time to show the world, basically, “how to”. It means more than you think it does to many people. Especially those of us that weren’t brought up around cooking. Cooking was done by mom, wife or the female of the household. The guys were out working. The guys didn’t have the same opportunities to learn to cook. Much respect for all you do to bring this to us!

    Arnie, your salsa roja is delicious! Suggestion for the next video: salsa verde. Better yet, Enchiladas Verdes!

    I’m just now discovering Arnie. With the dancing, I’d like to think of him as the Hispanic Cowboy Kent Rollins lol.

    It's because you were using the wrong knife. I was just thinking it when you cut yourself. That was a filet knife, always use a butcher's knife when chopping or dicing peppers or onions. The finer blade is good for slicing the tomatoes. Otherwise, you have me craving the salsa.

    I always take the seeds out, but add jalapeños, seranos & habaneros. I like the incoming burn, but the seeds give me an outgoing burn. They don’t digest. As a teen I used to catfish in the Mississippi River south of Baton Rouge where a sewer treatment plant discharged in the river. For hundreds of yards near the discharge were wild peppers & tomatoes growing.
