I‘ve been watching your videos for over a year and really enjoy them. Especially this one today, you made me feel a lot calmer and more normal about my towering TBR piles all over my flat. :)
I believe A Thousand Splendid Suns is even better than The Kite Runner, maybe because the story is written through the eyes of two Afghani women in very different situations and the oppression and brutality they were forced to endure in a culture of mysogeny and religious fanaticism. Although I read this book when it was first published, there are still scenes that haunt me to this day. I really think you would be blown away by the reading experience and might want to move it up on your TBR list! Thanks for your thoughtful and fun videos!
i have 85 books on my tbr at the moment - i attempt to keep it under 100 books but it's forever challenging and i have very regular clear-outs 😭 this definitely makes me wanna see how much i've read of my existing tbr over the past year or so... i'm guessing it is similar numbers to yours!
@ both definitely great ideas! i think part of my problem is that i'm convinced i'll read everything soon when i will not 😂 but a subdivide would probably help me out, too... one in one out may be the main way to go though for my silly levels of wanting all of the books!
Hii! I feel like I've been following your channel for quite a while, even if I'm not the best commenter. I had a look back and I think the first video of yours I watched was a july 2023 wrap up
i've gotta say that i while i loved the kite runner i was stunned by a thousand spendid suns..so glad the kite runner led me into it and paved the way. i think you might like it. also loved the old curiosity shop but then i've read and loved all of dicken's novels a couple of times and my least favorite is tale of two cities..
@@curioushmm9027 ok you're the second person whose said this, and we know how easy I am to convince so it's officially being bumped up the list! If you had to compare old curiosity shop to another Dickens novel, what's it most like? I also didn't love a tale of two cities, and I've definitely read hard times but I remember nothing about it so that may also need to rank quite low 😅
Sorrow and Bliss is in maybe my top 5 of this year (there's not been too much competition but still...). I can't even tell you exactly why I liked it so but I wholly recommend it!
Although he's no relation, there was a local dialect poet called Edwin Waugh, the surname (here in Lancs at least) is pronounced like the beginning of 'wall' but drop the double L 😊

@@kerrychrisman8585 ohh this is wonderful news - duly bumped up the reading list! Did you read it recently or when it first came out?
@hannahlosttheplot I read it when it first came out, but there is one scene in particular that will stay with me forever.

@@zadeyasmina8582 a one out two in policy?? 😅 I think subdividing is the way forward. Realistically half my tbr is not on my short term radar.

p.s. agree with the Circe supremacy! and I'm putting off Jonathan Strange for the exact same reason 😬
@@bethmw28 re Sorrow and Bliss oh this is good to know, I'm bumping it up!
@@bethmw28 re Jonathan Strange - I don't want to be disappointed 😭😭😭
I read The Secret History in my 30s and its still 👌

been watching under a year.
@@curioushmm9027 thanks for saying hi 😇
I think its pronounced Eeevelyn War
@@Peakah8 God thank you, I'm good with the Eeevelyn but the WAR always throws me, my brain wants it to be pronounced like wharf 😅
@@hannahlosttheplot I also say War out loud but my inside voice says Woff every time 🙃
@bethmw28 thank you I feel very seen
