In french, sallow sounds like a certain french insult so they changed it
I want to imagine they did a test run where the audience was laughing their asses off at the introduction of "Sebastian the Bastard" and then the crew immediately did a re-write and re-recording with his name changed. Lmaooo.
In German the name Fig is pronounced as fick which is our word for fuck yet it remained the same, thought that was hilarious and wanted to share lol
@ blaraxsa495. I disagree with you
I love the German voices! When Ominis introduces himself he sounds so American for a second lmao
as a german meself, I prefer the english voices, at least sebastians german voice sounds kinda too old for him and just not emotional enough in the important scenes iykwim... and Natty just sounds like a little kid, a 1st year or sum
@@kai9137agree, sebastian sounded like my uncle in his introduction 😂 ominis sounded pretty appropriate though imo
@@seafarer_ yea fr the only voice of the german dub I like is Ominis, 'cause it's Ciels voice from Black Butler xD
As a German I always prefer English as it's my second native language and honestly it's cause I can't stand the dubs that come from American shows when they are put in German cause my childhood shows have just always made them sound weird 😭
@@kai9137 seriously? I just thought his voice was amazing! Didn't know it was Ciel although I watched Black Butler in German, cool info thanks.
i really love ominis german voice it fits him so well and sounds so much like him only the way he said gaunt was really funny
Same here! Didn't particularly like the voice of Sebastian but Ominis was amazing!! Even better than the English version imo
I nearly lost it there.... in public
Ominis 💫GuAUnt💫
@@megan8932 yes
Ominis in german dub fits him really good!! (English is perfect ofc, but the german one is really niice)
I actually prefer his German voice, it's the only one I like over the original.
the japanese voices were an interesting choice. it makes me wonder what impressions the translation teams had about the characters before casting.
i feel like sebastian and ominis’ VAs could have been switched, since ominis sounds more lighthearted than sebastian, but that could be because i played with them speaking english first. the formality used suits them, it’s just that sebastian sounds like an late 20s office worker and ominis sounds like a 7th year 😂
also the female MC’s voice is very high in japanese and i’m not sure if that was a choice in the character design or if all the japanese female voices were default higher pitched than other languages.
I am so in love with Sebastian's Japanese voice and Ominis' Spanish voice.
As a German i can't help but think that Sebastians german voice sounds like a typical puberty voice😅
Literally 😭
He is 15/16 after all.
@@totallyanonymousbish9599 Uhm... Soooooo? I mean... Awesome, you really know something about this game! Or... What did you want to say?
@@missiviolett4818 Soooooo that's why a voice that sounds like a typical puberty voice makes sense you dingus.
@@totallyanonymousbish9599 Damn, already insulting me when YOU were the one who didn't read carefully😂 The dingus clearly already sorts himself out... Maybe if you read my comment again you could see that I never said that it is unreasonable that he has that voice...
Original Sebastian is the best
Aspetta finché non sentirlo parla in italiano. 😎
NAH the german sebastian had a voice crack at the start uff... fits him so well haha and Ominis is just wonderful.
Sebastian sounds a little more like the stubborn little shit that he can be XD
And Ominis has this certain hurt in his voice, when I played it (in german), I wanted to hug him on every occasion.
"Parece q encontre mi alma gemela"😳❤️❤️❤️
Translation: it seems i found my soulmate
Me: MYY-❤
can we talk about the fact that Sebastian calls MC his soulmate in his spanish dub for a moment 😶
Omg he does. That is so good. I love that sm
Same in German👀 although he calls MC "verwandte Seele" which comes from "Seelenverwandte" which technically means the same thing as soul mate, but literally it translates to "related soul", which doesn't quite have the same romancy effect the word "mate" has on me😂
In love with the french voices, even MC's ❣
Lol the added lines about them being cute! This was supposed to be a languages comparison, not you reading my mind. xD
Also, why's Sebastian's last name Pallow in French instead of Sallow? Is it because of silent consonants, or it sounds like something else? I've heard of characters from other stories getting their names changed in translations because it sounded like a rude word in a different language! And Japanese Ominis has a really deep voice, he sounds 35 instead of 15 haha.
Because Sallow does sound exactly like a french insult (salaud, which could be translated as "bastard"/ "swine")
@@spring-breeze9164 Lol that's so funny! But makes a lot of sense then why they changed it for the French dub. I imagine French players wouldn't be taking him too seriously if he just introduced himself like "Hi, I'm Sebastian the BASTARD". Might make for meme material though hahahaha.
@@spring-breeze9164 That makes sense and thanks so much for sharing 💚
almost everyone knows the english version so I made a different one with side comments 😅
@@ComedyLoverGirl I don't know why but i can just imagine Ominis hearing him and throwing a sarcastic remark in response 🤣
But yeah, it would be great meme material
German and Japanese Sebastian sounds so cuteeee
7:15 Ominis a une voix aussi magnifique que son visage
J'ai dit first pas touche 😂
German Ominis - I'm even more in love now 💔
Personal favorites
05:52 francais (French) - Sebastian Sallow
he said "Sebastian Pallow"
09:57 español México (Mexican Spanish) - Ominis Gaunt
Seems like he is doing rap as he introduces himself 😅
11:22 日本語 (Nihongo Japanese) - Sebastian Sallow
he said "Sebastian Sarrow"
Hey, French player here. They probably changed the name "sallow" into "pallow" because in french, "sallow" has the exact same pronunciation than "salaud", an insult you can translate as "bastard" or "scumbag" xD Not very fitted for a character's name...
Thank you for this video, I've always wondered how my favorites characters sounded in other languages (I only knew the French and English versions)!
We Japanese rarely distinguish between L and R pronunciations. Or rather, there is only one pronunciation that corresponds to L or R, so we pronounce them both the same way.
French Sebastian sounds so much older than a student, lol
Nah actually it's okay in french we speak... Loud
Interesting to see how different they all laugh.
Odd that here they wear a shirt and tie but when I played they wore the school robe like everyone else
there' a mod for changing some npc's clothes, they probably used that, as the MC's face also looks like it's modded
This is the first time I’m hearing the voices in Spanish and it’s so cool hearing it since it is my mother tongue; I played the game in Italian and Ominis is called INFAUSTUS 🤣 I hate it but oh well
Dios mío amo a Ominis demasiado
Slytherin student here hi
La voz de Ominis en español 🤭🤭
Japanese Ominis sounds too cheerful 😂
Why Deutsch and French sounds flat and kinda monotone while the other full of intonation and expressive tone.
I don't know about German but French is a rather flat language when it comes to intonation
As a German I never thaught about the voices sounding flat- Ominis sounds like an really annoying, dramatic and posh person when he talks about his family.
Sebastian definatly sounds more flat than Ominis but also talks like you would usually when you're curious and suspicious about someone.
Maybe it sounds flat but in fact we don’t talk like this anymore in French, believe me the way they talk is soooooo poetic and respectful I appreciate it
@@spring-breeze9164yes, this is because they are talking in a basic parisian accent (Standard French) but in the "campagnes" and specific regions the accent is strong and very interesting!
French>>>>>>
Such a shame that Ominis' voice is so plaintive and unpleasant in frech...
