Insane playoff! This course is usually incredibly windy but for this round it was calm. That's why it feels like the playoff was just simple backhand hyzers. Add the usual gusting winds and this playoff would have been crazy.
Coverage was pixel until Robinson closed the gap and then coverage was clear, especially once the viewing count went from 600 to 1.5k, 1.6 1.7, 1.8. Shouldn't meter connection and quality.
Playoffs should have just 1 disc per player and they get to decide which one. Would be interesting who chose a driver vs a putter or mid for multiple holes.
Brian did a good job as always. I know they're always trying out announcers, but having watched the live coverage I can say this latest one didn't work out. At. All.
These 2 players and those two playoff holes, they could have run out of daylight. 2 wide open holes in rotation: not a great idea, you can get dialed in too easy.

Two non-flukey holes that require nothing but execution of fundamentals. Takes most of the luck factor out, which you don’t want to come into play in a sudden death playoff. Play until someone loses focus or tires out. You want playoff holes where otherwise good throws are redirected by tree limbs or the discs land by the pin only to roll 50’ down a steep hill? Holes like that are good for determining consistency over 3-4 days of play, but there are too many flukey possibilities to use them in a sudden death playoff.
I wonder if throwing backhand only for the whole tournament (Robinson) gave Eagle the edge since he had the fresher arm in regards to repetitive motion fatigue? Congrats to Eagle for the win!

Just looking over his PDGA page: Oates has been a registered PDGA member since 87, and more earnings than 99% of pro disc golfers. He's won several world titles as master and grandmaster, with over 100 career wins since 1990. I know people like to rip on the guy for his first time as a commentator, but he got better on days 2 and 3 - apparently learning from the criticism from day 1. 🙂
