I've been on the Atlantic / ICW / Keys/ Gulf waters of South Florida for 13-years now, and every time I've been offered help, I am to this day grateful. I can't think of a time where I've offered help, and been mistreated. GOOD LUCK!

Grill looks great! Here’s an old auto mechanics trick.. roll up aluminum foil into a ball and keep it wet with water, spray the grill with water as well and it will clean and shine any stainless steel!

I had the same problem with my freezer. I purchased a generic manual refrigerator/freezer thermostat for about $15. Put the probe on the inside and ran one of the power wires thru the thermostat. Works perfect.

if need to clean stainless steel..harpic toiletcleaner..brush it on let it sit 10-15 mins wipe clean with rag and water...for chrome coated stuff coca cola the original...pour it on rub with a soft sponge will take the rust out of any chrome bumber/fender stearing wheel...the toilet cleaner trick saves big bucks on keeping motorbike exhaust clean. nice vid!
Keepin it real and enjoyin life. I love it. To your question about helping people. I'm a trucker not a sailor but it still applies. I can tell pretty soon if someone is green and needs a hand getting backed in to a parking spot or if someone is just having a bad day. It all comes with experience. Then you get the arsholes that don't want your help....just smile, grab a bag of popcorn and watch the show !

Been there done that, 8 years of living on our 40ft sloop down in Mexico. Was fun watching your video as I can relate to it all. We had some rough trips with bad weather monster seas, never broke anything lucky for us. Sure miss the life style, we had to go back to work, sold her in 08 to friends, she remains down in Mazatlán.
Your editing skills are really top notch at this point. Matt, I love that old T-shirt, but am shocked K hasn't thrown it out. My wife makes my stretched out old shirts disappear.
For the grill, next time order some "Neverdull" it is available on Amazon. We used to use it when I was in the Navy. It would have reduced your 45 minutes to about 10, not nearly as hard on the fingers and hands and done a better job. The Navy told us we could not use it anymore because it was very flammable, so be careful with the can if you get some.
Definitely wait until it’s REALLY apparent that somebody needs help anchoring. I think most people prefer to figure it out themselves. Great episode, good to see you out on the water again!

To your last question, the anchorage being so crowded is good reason to pay attention to the boat dragging anchor. You're like, "Oh look, here's another sailboat like us coming in. It's already pretty tight in here, where's she gonna end up?" So you keep a curious eye on it. You see the skipper repeating the mistake of dropping the hook on grass. What to do? I think seeing it drag the second time is when your anchoring help could be most valuable to the cause. If you are of a mind to share your input this is a valid time to act. It's a great way to meet new friends. Doesn't indicate a know- it- all but you know one helpful thing. Your boat is very shiny, you can talk to anyone!
Some times a compliment can inform as easily as advice. "Hey it looks like you know the place already here. Your boat is parked in a good spot between the sand over there and the reef over here etc." Other wise the advice would probably be appropriate if tier boat isn't in such a position.

Well Matt, I grab a cooler full of beer and sit on the bow and watch them try and set the anchor on rock. It can go on for hours and the anchorer usually becomes exhausted hauling up the anchor over and over after the windlass overheats. It's quite entertaining. I reluctantly might point them to a good spot right before the sun sets. It's called sailor etiquette.

Most people are grateful when you just offer or ask if they need a hand. Plus it can lead to new friendships and drinking buddies later!!!!! Its always nice to share information because they may know of a place you hadnt heard of or you may know of one they havent. I think its always best to just try to be neighborly.
I'm just going to put this out there, I've been a corporate hvac tech for 25 years.. the freezer going nuts and all the issues were probably due to bear. Cat fur on the condenser coil on the outside of the unit is why it goes to crap. If it's cooling/freezing, the charge is usually fine, it's the external fur and dirt/corrosion that causes it to go nuts and out of wack. BTW, hit me up, I was an SAE auto tech and worked for marina sailing out of California being the only marine diesel tech and boat repair tech they had. Let me know if you need technical advice or a problem solving flow direction on boating, hvac or engine/trans issues.. love the channel and you two remind me of me when I was younger and full of adventure.. now I need to convince my better half to sell the house in CT and buy a 50'~60' cruiser and live in the Caribbean or travel to Tahiti

I think your boat looks great!! Everything looks new. All the surfaces are clean. It must be nice to kick back and enjoy the sunset. Regarding newcomers to the anchorage, once you see there's going to be a problem, I would tell them you've snorkelled the bottom and found, "at least for us, that the best way to anchor is......" That way you don't sound like some know it all blowhard. If they ignore you, you won't feel guilty if they struggle.

BTW, the diesel temp issue is more of a heat exchanger issue, putting along it can get rid of the loaded heat, if you add more fuel and load, more heat is involved, if the heat exchanger is scaled, it will overheat. If it's raw water cooled, the system needs to be descaled with rydlime or Muriatic acid mix in water to clean out the scale.
So Kristen, In the entry roll what is it that caused you to hit reverse when you were near the bottom? No shade but it does give me a smile each week 🥺

To stop alot of the line tangle on your open face spinner reel add a swivel to your lead line that will stop alot of line twisting ,hope it helps ,lov re your videos, I am 62 years old wish I could join you both for a few days ,but health won't permit re me to ,keep up the good work you two 😀😉😊😄👍☺😀😉😊
The boat looks amazing guys. Congratulations again. But you never commented if you could feel the improvement in the performance. Here's a tip for bigger fish: catch and clean a conch and keep the "slop" for bait. Then go anchor or drift over some reefs in 40 - 60 feet of water. A hand line works really good so you can feel what's happening and you won't loose as many rigs. Might take a little more lead but you'll get dinner. Oh yeah, make some good conch salad with the good part of the conch.
Doubt is your greatest enemy………chase all doubts of yourself away as you would a thief entering your house! You might be to confiding in others, but you can never be too confident in yourself. Sounds like someone got to you……don’t give an inch! You have a Divine Right to step to the front, speak up, and look the world boldly in the face.

I generally offer my assistance as soon as possible by introducing myself and letting them know that I am willing to help them if they need anything. Again I am not out cruising yet but that has been my way of handling it at the boat ramps and campgrounds that we go to all the time. On the other hand, with me being the one unfamiliar with the location I don't ask for help for some reason and it would appear that I am happy to rip a giant hole through the camper rather than ask someone to help back it up. lol. Must be a guy thing.

Nope. A lee shore is the shore that is leeward of the boat. That means the wind is pushing the boat toward the lee shore.

To stop alot of the line tangle on your open face spinner reel add a swivel to your lead line that will stop alot of line twisting ,hope it helps ,lov re your videos, I am 62 years old wish I could join you both for a few days ,but health won't permit re me to ,keep up the good work you two 😀😉😊😄👍☺😀😉😊
The boat looks amazing guys. Congratulations again. But you never commented if you could feel the improvement in the performance. Here's a tip for bigger fish: catch and clean a conch and keep the "slop" for bait. Then go anchor or drift over some reefs in 40 - 60 feet of water. A hand line works really good so you can feel what's happening and you won't loose as many rigs. Might take a little more lead but you'll get dinner. Oh yeah, make some good conch salad with the good part of the conch.

I generally offer my assistance as soon as possible by introducing myself and letting them know that I am willing to help them if they need anything. Again I am not out cruising yet but that has been my way of handling it at the boat ramps and campgrounds that we go to all the time. On the other hand, with me being the one unfamiliar with the location I don't ask for help for some reason and it would appear that I am happy to rip a giant hole through the camper rather than ask someone to help back it up. lol. Must be a guy thing.
