- A reporter was fired after a photo surfaced of her being carried through floodwaters in Puebla, Mexico so she wouldn't apparently ruin her expensive shoes. Lydia Cummings says a man and woman offered to carry and she didn't want to be rude. The photograph made the rounds online causing memes to be posted on social media. Even though she issued an apology she remains without a job at the TV Azteca station. #InsideEdition

Its funny how the backstory is how she was normally reporting the flood then the water level rose in the area where she was reporting. A couple saw this just kinda jokingly asked to carry her, she let them and it was just a all around funny interaction. You can even see bystanders laughing and smiling.
Then the internet ruined this lady's life based on a single photo with no context. Classic internet, shes a fool for forgetting to constantly walk on eggshells.
Yeah I was expecting this to be the case and there may even be an explanation for why she wore heels to a flood zone. We need to be able to read between the lines a WHOLE lot more.

The fact that is more upsetting is the people that actually lived there and affected by the floods were nice enough to carry her but really she made the story about her rather than the victims of the storm getting the help they needed. 😠

She was smiling and perhaps seemed a little embarrassed. I suspect that this kind couple looked at her like a daughter and wouldn't take no for an answer. The man behind found it funny too. They were coping with the flooding with humour. I don't know if the 'expensive shoes' story is right. I think this could be better told as a lighthearted and generous moment during hard times for the locals. Everyone can use a laugh with a little absurdity. Should she have lost her job? I seriously doubt that she would have asked flood victims to carry her.

I think the picture shows kindness. Even in the flood, even after losing everything, they still showed kindness.
I think her contract being terminated over this was extremely harsh. A slap on the wrist would have sufficed. She didn't do anything rude or untoward. If they insisted on helping her, at least I'm sure she would have been grateful for it.
