i was still catching the 7:27 from goodna in 1996 (it ran from redbank, to bowen hills, express from corinda to indooroopilli, then from indooroopilly to roma street@@crankycow35098
This is a ripper of a You Tube video Andrew, thank you muchly for sharing. Only wish I'd had the foresight to photograph and film much of this sort of stuff back in those days.
I think the EMUs would still be quite well-recognised for their rather quirky characteristics, such as all the double-pane side windows with the ventilation windows at the top which slant slightly upwards. I also think they benefit over the new trains with a few respects. I don't really like the fact that there are no doors between carriages on the new ones as I think that having doors between carriages provides better noise reduction.
difference in safety standards when you see the 1500s with no railing and the 2100s with railing. kinda epic to see the 3900s dont really see any of em anymore. i still see 3500s and the newer 3700s and 3800s but yeah no 3900s
I remember these grey ones when I was a kid. My Grandma lived near a station and I would always hear the distinctive whine. Great memories.
I've been in Brisbane 28 years. The emu trains are by far the best looking
aw man i miss the EMU's nowadays considering they dont operate much anymore but these things were awesome back in the day :)
and i also wonder when the last diesel locomotive passenger train last went in service?

Can’t believe that what your standing on at Victoria Park is now the Intercity Bypass now at the end
Beautiful blue and green coloured seating on the EMU's in the 90's. Sad I was a child to not experience this era.

I think you are right re inter car doors. Probably cost saving!
The new Aussie built ngr trains are going to have the doors between the carriages once they enter service in late 2026 by going off the concept design
So weird that this is what it all looked like a year before i was born
A lot has changed
21:35 is that Buranda?
