Kanye is a master of subverting expectations. Listen to Yeezus and 808s & Heartbreaks back to back and you'll see how diverse he is. You guys might like his joint venture with Cudi, Kids See Ghosts that just came out.

Shades can't hide it. You know when the eyebrows raise, your hearing something good.
Singing even though your voice has flaws, shows vulnerability, the song is much better for it IMO. As far as the mixing and pitchiness I think this is an example of an artist trying to convey meaning through all their mediums, and I think he might've missed the mark, though I actually have grown to like it.

I really think this album and especially this song was produced to purposely have a basement mix/indie sound. To me that's what makes this song amazing, it has a dirty imperfect sound.

KID CUDI''____ It's from one of his most critically acclaim albums ''MBDTF'' (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) nd....also ''POWER'' is another good track from that album. To be honest the whole album is dope and the production is crazy. Did I mention he also did an artistic short film to showcase most of the songs on this very same album called ''Runaway (full length film)''' Which you can find on his youtube page.
Another song like this one from kanye is "Gorgeous". It's one of my favorite one from me. To answer your question about the guitar, it was probably Mike Dean, one of Kanye West oldest co-producers, that was playing it.
