Hi, I have a doubt, usually to find the area of the uneven rectangle we do average on the uneven side and do l*b. Likewise why can we do the average of all y axis coordinates and do l*b?
That's what we do. The uneven side you are referring to is represented by f(x) which changes wrt x. The constant side is given a constant value of dx. By summing that up we get the area. Integration helps us to do that process very quickly.

It is not about the letter. Just a way to represent a function of X would be f(x) f represents the word " a function of". That's all.
Real world example kudunga...onnu puriyala...area va kandupudichu.. enna solla varringa...😢... car example edukureenga...idhula enna area, volume kandupudichu...enna use... frustrating

Here height is not a constant, it is changing with respect to x. For every value of X, there is a different Y. Hence we say Y is a function of X. However base is constant, with a value of dx. So when we write the area formula, we write as f(x) x dx. Please let me know if it answers your question.
