It’s not for me but if it’s one song on a “normal” Architects album it could be what they’re using for varieties sake. One can hope so at least.

Exactly this. It’s always the same when a band creates a unique sound... naturally, when that sound becomes too diluted they want to move away and keep on top of the trend. It’s basically just marketing a product at its simplicity. If Architects were to write another album in the vein of the last three albums, then what is there to separate them from the 1000 other bands out there doing the same stuff? This progressive step 100% makes sense to me

I was disappointed with the track, but it wasn't just because it was all singing. The sound was just so completely different from the Architects I'm used to, instrumentally, it was very bland, which isn't something I'd expect to say about an Architects track. Lyrically it felt quite weak too, like some kind of Three Days Grace track. Anyone using this track to judge their direction is definitely unnecessarily jumping the gun, but seeing a new unexpected track by Architects, and for it to sound nothing like Architects, I can understand people's response. Something I said in a comment elsewhere, is that I may enjoy this song more if it pops up on a Spotify radio in the background and I can hear it without any association to the name Architects, otherwise I'm just gonna keep attaching preconceptions.

I'm in the middle. It's not my favorite Architects song but I also think it was really catchy and neat. I feel like a lot of people are jumping to the conclusion that they've completely changed their sound and are now "just like BMTH" (LOTS of comments about BMTH with this release, as expected). It's one song off of an entire album, we have no idea what else is on that bad boy.
Anyway, I am on board with you. I like this direction for them anyway but the Architects fan in me still wants to hear some of those beautiful uncleans from Sam Carter on the new album.

    • @METALBIRB

Considering the variety that they've shown on Daybreaker and other albums, I'm optimistic that this album will have a wide range of songs. So I'll make my final judgement until I hear the album but for now this song is awesome.

I haven't listened to an Architects track this much since they first dropped Doomsday.
Funny Doomsday story: my ex needed someone to drive her for a weekend trip for a surgery.
I went with her and (hilariously enough) another ex, her best friend.
She's sleeping off the surgery an entire day, so the other girl and I go the mall.
She's shopping in this girly soap and makeup place and it's a huge place, so I'm just waiting.
One of the staff is wearing an Architects hoodie.
    We start chatting.
The girl goes 'hey, get a room, you're gross!' and this girl and I just laugh.
Next night, we end up hooking up at a fucking Architects show 🤣

Also what was supposed to be coming after Holy Hell? I think that Album was a good "peak" of their "old" sound, no need to let go of it completely, but yeah, they can't be writing about death and misery forever, people complain if they do it different and people complain if they do the "same". Daybreaker is my favourite architects album and alot of it was clean, Cracks in the Earth, Behind the Throne, Unbeliever are some of my favourite Architects tracks and none of them are really heavy. Embrace the change, i'm sure they'll have a few more surprises. Can't wait for the new album.

I know very little about Architects, but I dug it. Very catchy chorus, I was quickly singing "We're just a bunch of fuckin animals'. Guitars were simple, but that nice heavy tone made up for it. Electronic elements were nice. Good stuff overall.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this. I wasn't really a huge fan of the route that BMTH took after Sempiternal, although I liked That's The Spirit for the most part, but ultimately I'm bored of this sound. It's definitely not bad, and it's kind of catchy, I just don't know if the anthem rock is doing it for me. I hope the album is different and experimenting, but I hope it's not more of this sound and more of the BMTH sound.
Sam sounds great as always though. I'm fine with the vocals and the drumming, but the guitar work and electronic stuff isn't doing it for me on this one. Looking forward to the new album nonetheless!

I'm missing some classic architects riffs and sam's vocals, but overall still hyped for the album. Hopefully this song is a one of in this industrial style.

I actually really enjoy it, it's a very atmospheric track, the lyrics do all the talking you don't need the nasty aggressive screams to get a point across all the time, the music is doing that for you in this, Sam doing softer vocals gives it a dynamic, I can imagine the song maybe sitting in the middle of the album. It's almost got a rammstien feel to it... Very industrial. Its a killer track

I remember when I first heard Buried at Sea and I remember being so upset cause I didnt like Sams vocals. Was absolutely heartbroken that Matt left. But Ruin grew on me very fast. And with Hollow Crown, particularly the track We're All Alone from the split ep they did with Dead Swans, they became my favourite band and have been ever since.

I enjoyed it. As much as I enjoy the signature sound they've developed over the past few albums, I'm glad to see they broke away from it for this song. Hopefully we get more pre-LFLT-style material on the new record.

Great song, honestly you can't be mad about it. This is the new Architects, this is fresh and I wish they follow their path of the new record cus I couldn't stand a 4th album with a sounds more than 6 years old in their band.

incredible pressure on these guys, EVERYONE has to admit that little fact. When youve been elevated to the Royal Court of the Metalcore scene, you're under the microscope. With Holy Hell completing the Tom Searle trilogy, I was super excited to hear how they are evolving for this new evolution :D

Was a fan of Hollow Crown and saw them live on that tour. Literally never listened to one song by them after till Animals LOL. Sounds like a different band but I dig it. Also got into their catalog post Hollow Crown too cause of this song. I'm not the biggest fan of the style post Hollow Crown but they are an exception for me.

I agree with most of your sentiments. The song is fine. It’s well produced and it does have layers. Evolving and growing doesn’t = moving into radio rock. Why do all these metal bands think that going “radio rock” is “evolving?” There are ways to have metal mainstream without morphing into rock.

I'm pretty sure you'll like their stuff since you enjoyed 'Animals'.

The previous album sounded to me like "okay, let us put together all the trademarks that made ppl go crazy during the past 3-4 years. It sounded kinda inconsequent and also like a safe-mode thing. So I couldn't jam that album that often, I've over-listened it pretty quick, noch much more than about 10-15 times.
But... This here is what I would have expected instead, and now the time has come. Finally. Cool.
