IMHO, the rationale behind setting such an early date for the 1st debate is so that Biden gets in at least one debate while he's still steady on his feet. This is not something that can be counted on in 4 or 5 months time. While a similar scenario applies to Trump there's a difference in that while Biden's physical decline is slow & steady, Trump's slump when it comes will be in a heartbeat, which cannot be counted on before November.

IMHO, the rationale behind setting such an early date for the 1st debate is so that Biden gets in at least one debate while he's still steady on his feet. This is not something that can be counted on in 4 or 5 months time.
While a similar scenario applies to Trump there's a difference in that while Biden's physical decline is slow & steady, Trump's slump when it comes will be in a heartbeat, which cannot be counted on before November.
