WOW! The feedback you all have been commenting for this episode has been FANTASTIC! Thank you all! If you enjoyed this consider giving us a like and subscribe because we have LOTS more content just like this both already out and on the way. P.S. We have another interview coming out this weekend!
I appreciate Blake SO MUCH for sharing the link to this video on Twitter. Allow me to write a rather long post. First, I hope EVERY previous Our Hollow, Our home member genuinely sees this and takes the time to read this. James, I just want to say THANK YOU for taking the time to have this interview that I had no idea was even happening. Hearing your experiences within the band was a tragedy, but I'm glad you were able to connect with the other 3 members of the band through OHOH and make the best out of some of the worst possible situations. This may sound absolutely wild, but you doing this interview has left me with the greatest sense of closure I don't think I was prepared for. For what it's worth, I've been a fan of OHOH since //Redefine was being made. "Rest Assured" was the first song I heard from the band (and may have even been the debut single). Hearing Connor and Toby tear up that song made me an immediate fan for life and I've been following the band ever since. Getting to experience the release of the debut album "Hartsick" and seeing the band release two more albums such as "In Moment / / In Memory" Which was an album straight from Toby's Heart (which you can't fault him for as that was an album made during the time his father died so I'll give this album a pass in terms of the writing process) to a revival of sorts with "Burn In The Flood". Every release has genuinely been a masterpiece and I'm so thankful for the band as a whole, but I was devastated when I first heard all of the other members left shortly after the previous album's release. Never knowing why at that point. I was SO IMMENSELY happy when I saw the band was coming back together with an entire new lineup and ready to release new music. I was a little skeptical because Connor was such an amazing vocalist I wasn't sure how Gaz would sound or how his screams would complement the music like Connor's did....but I was blown away. When you all released "Downpour" I couldn't believe this band was able to release such an amazing with an entire NEW lineup and come straight out the gate like you all did. I was more anxious than ever to hear the much anticipated fourth album...for now. I think it was the 2nd single to release when Toby tore the entire band apart in a single post. I couldn't believe what I read. I didn't want to believe a band I've followed for so long, just crumbled in the blink of an eye. I was beyond grateful to know that everyone wanted to continue releasing the music for the final album "Hope & Hell" to see the album to fruition and every single release that lead to the album's release was beyond stunning. But knowing that the "end" was drawing closer, it made the day of release that much more painful. Release day came for "Hope & Hell" and the best way I could describe listening to the album from the very beginning was "Melancholic". It's always felt weird in a sense to listen to any of those songs on the album, but I carried on listening, thinking you all must have had fun recording these songs right? I almost feel ashamed that my thinking of that was wrong. I want to feel resentful towards Toby for the way he treated every single person that was in OHOH but I have to thank him and everyone at the same time for the opportunity for getting everyone together and creating this amazing discography through good and bad. Regardless of the situation. I do hope everyone is proud of working on Hope & Hell as you all have created an amazing album. I would like to hope that one day James, Gaz, and the others can get together again one day (without Toby) and perhaps think about creating some new music again. Before I end this storybook, I would also like to ask a genuine question and that would be: Does Arising Empire own the rights to the album? If so, could there be a possibility that the album could be rerecorded without Toby's vocals and perhaps have someone take over those clean vocals? I'll leave off with this. Thank you again James SO MUCH for doing this and providing at least me with the closure I was looking for to end the Our Hollow, Our Home chapter. I'll always continue listening to the amazing discography the band has created, and I hope that we can hear from you all again one day. Sorry for the long post haha.
Hey! So great to hear the love for the band over the years, for sure everyone old and new will appreciate that, and I’m glad that you’ve now had some closure. To answer your question about the record, Toby was a part of Hollow and hollows sound, I don’t think it makes sense to re-record his vocals with someone else, it wouldn’t be Hollow in my opinion then, we’ll save that for the new band I’m putting together at the moment :) Thank you for your comment! And I hope you enjoy the album, and this new band when it’s unleashed :)
@@James.Hackett thanks for the comment! And yea, i agree with every you’ve said haha. My question was definitely a shot in the dark haha. Can’t wait to see what you have cooking up in the future!
Such a good interview/insight into everything. The hardest part is knowing that there’s nothing more to come from hollow. Blood moon being the last song on the album, the last song we will ever hear from OhOh. It’s sad as hell man.
@@James.Hackett Me too mate, me too. Just going to miss the sound of hollow, that’s including everyone. It’s a band that if I could ever create music like it, that’s what I’d imagine it to be, it quickly became my favourite band and long will it probably always be, but yeah. Just damn hard.
@@ghostwinterz thanks for the kind words dude. The songs won’t go anywhere, they’re there to listen to forever, glad you like them :) There will be more, from a new band. It won’t sound exactly like hollow of course, but maybe you’ll dig that too :)

I didn’t watch the interview yet, but is the band actually done-done? Like no more? Mind if someone gives me a recap cuz it’s gonna be a day or two before I can watch this entire vid.
Brilliant interview. Your positivity in such a heartbreaking situation is inspiring. I’m really gutted it ended how it did. I saw OHOH live a total of 37 times and have many great memories. Only saw OHOH once with the new line up and I can honestly say you guys were fucking tight live!!! Hearing Speak of Sorrow and Feast For The Crows live again was ace. Thank you to James for your efforts in trying to keep the band together, it’s completely understandable that you couldn’t continue to do it. Looking forward to hearing what you put out as I love what I’ve heard so far ❤️
Big thank you to James for doing this interview we have some what of a closure. I would have liked to see the other 3 do the interview as well but I’m sure they have their reasons. One question I wish I could ask them is did Tobias start the band, was it his band because why didn’t the first line up even this final line up kick him out and continue without him?
I can at least speak for the latest lineup, there was a few reasons... Musically - It wouldn't have been possible to continue without Toby and keep it true to what OHOH is, as he wrote all the songs but also his voice is a staple in the sound etc. We had a pretty rough time recovering from the last 4 leaving with fans, but also with people within the industry which made it hard to get booked and get backing for various things as many believed the band to be dead, hence why we was kicked off that tour. It was a rough hit... so losing Toby would have been too much to recover from in our opinion, from an industry standpoint especially, at that point you're better off starting another band. Logistically - it would have been a nightmare, as he owned all of the equipment and had control of all of the of the bands finances. We was told to see any transactions we'd have to create a new account, he wouldn't let us see the most up to date transaction history of the account we already had, for reasons i'm aware of now, but at the time we just thought that was a bit fishy, and probably safer to distance ourselves from that. But either way, we'd have been locked out of all the money. Personally - It was also true that some of us we're so stressed and deflated by the whole thing that they didn't want to do bands anymore period. So regardless on if we was even able to kick Toby out we'd have lost some others too. Hope that clears all that up, but there is a new band on it's way 🤘 For the previous lineup and OG members, I don't know the answer to that, I think it's probably semi-reflective of how we felt, as they did go through many of the same things we did. I don't know how they managed to deal with it for so long, but respect to them! Maybe one of them will see this and explain their reason for not kicking him out. I hope that clears something up for you :)
Great Question Jordan. Wish I would have thought to ask that. Also, if any of the members from the previous lineup ever see this I'd have them on the show in a heartbeat. Thanks again James for sharing your time and story with us.
Personally I found the band a few years back and liked them right away, so was pretty sad when the first batch of members leaving, but didn't look to much into it as to why. Then "Downpour" dropped out of nowhere (for me atleast) and seeing the band still being around with new members had me happy again and I loved that song (Sucks it isn't on the new album). Pre-Ordered the physical album as soon as I saw it being up and got it today and then I find out (today) they split again... !!!!!!!! WTF!!!! The one thing I didn't downright dislike was actually alot of Tobias' cleans, so to find out he's the major problem of the band well... I do really hope the rest of the members can do something different together in the future.
Glad you’ve enjoyed the band over the years :) Yeah I am getting another band together hopefully you’ll all be able to hear something from that soon. :)
@@James.Hackett Do what most of previous In Flames members from the entire line up did. Get together and form the band Halo Effect... Would be wild with 2 gen OHOH members in a new band together haha
Got to say I wasn’t sure what to think when the guys left but, the main thing I saw when it ended was straight up bullying towards Tobias, from ex members both old and new line up. You have to question whether there is more to it, we can’t just take their word and take that as solid truth. There is also tobias side and we may never know his side. As they say there’s always two sides to every story but that seems to have been forgotten here. I definitely saw some ugly character traits from a lot of these other guys, in the forms of stories and comments which were just mean and straight up bullying, toward Tobias. Maybe half of them were difficult and not the best people themselves, maybe that’s why Tobias was “disrespectful” toward them. You gotta wonder…
Toby’s statement makes it pretty clear (Atleast to me) that he was the main problem. I would give it a read if you haven’t already. I think that statement IS his side of the story.
I was literally in the band and you weren’t so with respect, you have no idea what you’re talking about. James has spent over an hour in this podcast explaining what happened, the fact that all 4 of us left together for the same reason and literally gave up our dream of being in a band because we couldn’t work under the conditions he put us through should be proof enough. Not only that but this isn’t the first time it’s happened in this band, 4 members left 2 years ago for the EXACT same reason we did. Which we later found out about. And if that still isn’t enough, other bands saw his behaviour on tour and made a lot of comments about it, fans saw it and made comments about it. This is what happened to us due to 1 persons ego and disrespect on a daily basis on tour, if it was any other band in the world we would have kicked him out straight away due to his behaviour but he was the original member so we had no choice but to walk away.
