Loved to see some appreciation for Machine and Cannibal, both very solid records. Great vid as always holmes, cheers
I found it VERY interesting that you both consider Machine as the album WDT should've been and was praised as. I wholeheartedly disagree with you LOL, but it's all good, just fun to hear that differing perspective. For me, the best songs off Machine were the singles released (Cold, This is Not, Black and White). But none of it touches the catchiness and memorability of WDT. Ironically, These are the only two albums from the band I continue to listen to, as I checked out after Shadow Zone. (Side-note....I STRONGLY urge you both to check out the song 'Anything but This'....Japanese bonus track off Machine....it is STUPID good.

The funny thing is, a lot of people of my generation got into Static X through Shadow Zone singles, like The Only, because A) it was more melodic and accessible, and B) it was on NFS Underground soundtrack.
Whoo! I think most would agree on the strong and weak points throughout their career, even though one of my favorite tracks by them is "Kill your idols" off of Shadow zone. Awesome video man! 🤌🤘
Great video bro. I stopped following after Shadow Zone...i remember Wayne chamging his vocal style to a more nasal Layne Staley vibe on that one...but Invincible is still one of my faves from them. They were a killer live act though. I saw them open for Type O numerous times. Good memories bro!
Same here. I tried Shadow Zone (and of course subsequent albums, but nothing else clicked). WDT is forever an all-time classic, with Machine taking a solid second place. But I'm not a fan of the rest.

Wisconsin Death Trip - 4.5/5 Machine - 4.5/5 Shadow Zone - 4.5/5 Start A War - 4/5 Cannibal - 4/5 Cult Of Static - 4/5 Project Regeneration: Vol.1 - 4.5/5
It's like we have totally opposite opinions but I really did enjoy watching this video and listen to your perspective. After all, yours are definitely more interesting because mine do tend to fall in line with most fans of the band, and as you said, it is true that Machine is not that appreciated so I am glad you enjoyed it. Personally, it is my 3rd or 2nd least favorite so far. We do have a similar opinion on Cannibal though. Great video bro.
If we get a new Mercyful Fate or King Diamond album year, I'd like to see you review every MF or KD album. In the meantime, how about Exodus, Ministry, Bathory, or Carcass?
Static-X to me has always been a song over album band, where you like some songs, but listening to a whole album is kind of a chore. Also if I am in the mood for industrial metal, I will go with Ministry. Edit: also for the reason of inconsistencies, that was Wayne's meth use going into the writing process.
While I disagree with the album rankings, THANK YOU for saying that about Project Regeneration. It's immensely disrespectful to Wayne, especially the music video for the song called Zombie.
You were actually nicer than I thought haha but I think If Wisconsin Death Trip came out today it would easily be one of the best albums of the year. Id give Machine a 2.5. I was was extremely disappointed when it first came out. Wayne was a drug addict..so I mean, it’s not surprising that the quality goes severely up and down lol
I enjoy Wisconsin Death Trip well enough, but overall Static X kinda just feels like somebody took Fear Factory and removed all of the ambition, scope and emotion present in those records. I feel like Static could be a good on-ramp/starter band to better industrial and metal records if their fans could just step a little outside of their comfort zone
Well put, and there's validity to that - I know a few people who would say that Static-X was more of a gateway industrial band rather than a favourite.
I don't have a score or a tier list for these records, but I'm sure I could rank them off of memory. 1. Wisconsin Death Trip 2. Cannibal 3. Machine 4. Start A War 5. Cult Of Static 6. Shadow Zone I don't consider Project Regeneration to be a part of this discography due to the circumstances. Not bad tho. Wayne certainly knew how to write a catchy, heavy tune for those to get down to. Evil Disco baby.
As a diehard static-x fan, i just wanted to thank you for a more honest opinion of the band and their entire studio album discography because you were very harsh in a previous video. First Off the album "Cannibal" is my least favorite album from them simply because i felt the band went too far away from the sound that made them who they are yes the album has some bangers like No Submission, behemoth, forty ways, cuts you up, but the rest of that album just feels forced especially with the random guitar solos which felt forced in some ways. Second i am happy to hear you really enjoyed the album "Machine" which in my opinion is just as good as "wisconsin death trip" except it was simply a heavier version of the Aforementioned album with killer tracks like permanence, black and white, this is not, cold, structural defect in which i feel that song is so underrated!. Final The album project regeneration volume 1 in my opinion i was definetly skeptical of how they were gonna pulled this album off with lots of wayne static's musical compositions that he left behind and somehow the album came out great and is a masterpiece in my opinion and i rotate thru that album once every week but other than that Rock on brotha!
Wisconsin Death Trip came along when White Zombie were done and Ministry were lost in sludgy / smack territory so there was a gap in the marketplace that they filled during the nu-metal boom.
