    I really don't care about the warranty, be it a year or life. I work on my own guns, just like my cars.

      Same here I just order parts and modify if necessary ....but been doing this forever. For someone without mechanical ability though might need that warranty.

      The warranty gives you the parts if a part breaks so you don’t have to pay for it then they send you the part for free.

    I wanted one of these, and I was a Taurus fan who spent countless hours debating haters and naysayers. Now that they changed their warranty, I refuse to purchase from them. With Taurus, spare parts will be impossible to find, so you'll have a paperweight if something goes wrong. Even if you use their warranty service within the first year, you'll have to pay to ship it to them, and then you'll have to wait several months before it's shipped back.. With all that said and with similarly priced Rugers, Caniks, S&Ws, etc on the market that comes with excellent CS and/or parts availability, only a fool would purchase a new Taurus now.

      Many people that have sent a gun back to Taurus to be fixed had their guns returned over a year later. I bought a PT111 and i cracked the rear slide cover with normal use. I called Taurus and fought them for almost a year. I finally got them to send me the parts. So what good is a warranty if they do not cover it anyway. These are cheap throwaway guns anyway, just realize when you buy one it may be a paperweight someday.

    I just picked up this week my TH9C (compact) version and a Rossi RS22 rifle for $299 from Academy. The pistol was $299 and the rifle free...broke it down cleaned it as it was filthy and will be taking it out this weekend to see how it behaves. The little rifle is really nice...lightweight semi auto with a nice trigger. Should have some fun with both and by the way the Rossi has a lifetime warranty for those that think it's a big deal

      Taurus pistols generally are very dirty out of the box because they cake it with that shipping grease. I might have grabbed that deal if I didn't already have the TH9 and a PT-111 G2.

    the magazine release is designed like a screw and has a cam effect so it can be operated from both sides causing the slow or sticky feeling.the release button also does a slight turn while being depressed. a single sided release only has to slide straight across to release normally. the mag release button innards could probably be polished somehow.

    Taurus is going to the 1 year warranty on products made after 1/17/2018 and have gotten away from the internal locks on the newer models as many of the new models are upgraded re-released models under a different model number. This is part of their quality control improvement.

    I’ve got one just like it. I wasn’t particularly crazy about the trigger action but after you get used to it, it not a problem. Taurus gets a bad name because of the price but I can use it to protect my house just as well as a $2000 gun.

    • @Sui778
      @Sui778  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Single action is nice. Double action works but definitely leaves something to be desired. It's not really noticeable anyway, and since it cycles to single action it doesn't really matter to me what the double action does.

    • @bcroft68bc
      @bcroft68bc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sui778 I don’t even use the double action. Like you said, it does leave something to be desired. I was talking about how far you have to pull on the trigger before it fires. But once you get to know the gun, you’ll automatically know where the firing point is. So I guess it really doesn’t matter, just as long as you know your gun.

    Walther Creed with lifetime warranty can be had sub $300 take home, similar pricing I have seen on S&W MP 9 for around $300 also with lifetime warranty. I just bought a Creed in 9 mm to stow out in the truck. The Creed shoots great, accurate and very well made. I couldn't bring myself to spend the same amount of money on a gun that Taurus won't stand for. I like the TH though and l actually own a 30 year old PT 99 and it has over 10,000 rounds through it without a problem, just got it back from the Gunsmith with a clean bill of health and she is still true, but Taurus has changed!

    I just bought this gun and was saddened to learn it only has a limited one year warranty. I am surprised they stopped providing a lifetime warranty since they have such a questionable history with quality. I don't know why anyone would buy any gun from Taurus with only a one year warranty. I now have to decide if I will keep it for a cheap backup or sell it off. Shame on Taurus for not making this more clear to its customers.

    • @Sui778

    When I've disassembled handguns with those levers, I grip the gun in my shooting hand and hold the slide back with my index finger, using my free hand to pull the lever down and then releasing my index finger to let the slide move forward to the disengaged position to allow for the rest of disassembly.

    With having many 1911's and it being a hammer fired gun. breaking them down to clean a reassemble them it is easier to do with the hammer cocked, also it is the actual first step in disassemble of a 1911 is to cock the hammer. Just a side note

  • @TheBigpappa160
    @TheBigpappa160 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Doing a little research on the TH9, trying to decide on getting the TH9 or the Ruger Security 9. But on the double action trigger pull on the TH9 you said maybe 9-10 lbs on the trigger pull, I can tell you by experience with other double action triggers that I've own 9-10 lb double action trigger pull is very good, but the gritty trigger isn't good. The Security 9 is a hammer fire gun but the Hammer is internal but no gritty feel when pulling trigger. But I like the decocker on the TH9, Security 9 has a safety which I don't care for. But on to more research.

    • @Sui778
      @Sui778  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It only feels gritty when the trigger is pulled slowly - when you pull it faster it's barely noticeable. I was guessing on the 9-10 pound pull. I have a Lyman gauge coming in and I'll test both single and double on it in the follow up review I'm planning on doing before too much longer. Mag buttons are a bit sticky but they do work and eject the magazine properly. Other than that there really isn't much to complain about with this firearm, although it's a bit annoying that it's almost impossible to find extra mags for the thing.

      The dimensions between the HK and the TH9C are almost identical but I'm willing to bet the trigger breaks much further back on the TH9C (Taurus pistols are famous for this). Honestly when I see someone trashing a limited warranty it makes me wonder just how well they really take care of and maintain their weapons. Yes there are legitimate failures that isn't the operator's fault but I suspect more often than not that it's a result of someone not keeping their guns maintained properly.

    I don’t like warranties anyway because I do not want to send my gun out to be fixed. I would rather buy the parts and fix it myself. I took me almost a year but I finally got the parts to fix my PT111. They said they are fixing their customer services and retraining their people. I hope that is the case because Taurus has some good cheap guns.

    • @Sui778
      @Sui778  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're just good guns - nevermind cheap - that's just a nice bonus. I own five of them and they all run very well. The thing about warranties is that companies will do anything they can to not honor it and that's not isolated to just gun manufacturers - it's pretty much every manufacturer. They WILL try to find a way to fault you for a broken product, plain and simple.

Also Taurus has made the most innovations compared to other manufactures. that's to all the Taurus haters that don't know what they are talking about. my 809 and pt92 have never jammed and I have fired every different kind of ammo I can find.

    Id like to be able to like this gun, but after owning several Taurus products in the past & having to deal with the customer service, Ill never spend a dime on one, especially since the warranty dropped to one year, though the "lifetime warranty" was worthless. You get what you pay for, & with several other more dependable guns in the price range with better warranty's, customer service & quality, I can see this company belly up shortly.

    Taurus is trying to pull a fast one on all their clients. They are making extremely minor changes to existing product lines and renaming make it seem like different guns for the sole purpose of getting away from the lifetime warranty. They did the same with the PT111 G2 becoming the G2C. Same damn gun but without the Taurus safety lock. You guessed it, 1 year warranty. Kinda BS given their sub par quality control. I had a PT111 G2, but sold it as i had enough FTE’s that made me not want to have to depend on it with my life. Was fun to shoot otherwise. What chapped my butt, however, was seeing how Taurus customer service was treating people who had to send it firearms for warranty work/recall. Seems like it was taking 3-6 MONTHS for people to get a firearm back. That’s completely unacceptable and no way to run a business. I know some people love Taurus and have had good luck with their firearms. Good for them. While I still own a PT709 Slim, This will be my last Taurus product. They will never get another penny from me. I’d rather spend more money with a company that makes a better product, stands behind their work, and takes care of their customers the right way.

    • @joshsevens9611
      @joshsevens9611 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shane Cargill you're wrong about this Taurus is changing there guns names due to a recent lawsuit. They recently changed the G2 to the G2C because of the lawsuit claiming the pistols name sounded to similar to a pistol already made, and a lot of there firearms apparently need to have a name change. I completely agree about the warranty though I would never by a Taurus knowing it only has a 1 year warranty.

    • @Sui778
      @Sui778  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly don't get it either, especially considering that ALL manufacturers, regardless of what product they make and how long the warranty is will do everything to fault the buyer for the malfunction/defect, whatever the problem is before they honor the warranty.

    • @rbm6184
      @rbm6184 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sui778 Yep. They will fault the buyer because they don't want to deal with the problem of their product. The warranty is a write off for them that they don't intend to honor from the beginning. That is why they drag their feet getting it done under legal obligation. Just like some insurance companies. I would much rather take my guns that I can't fix on my own to a reputable licensed gunsmith and just pay the cost of the repair that usually is not that much unless its a major problem.

    • @rbm6184
      @rbm6184 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      $277 is a good price. I would like to find a TH9C for around that much somewhere. Maybe the prices will keep dropping like they have been on pistols. I would like a smooth DA trigger for consistent break every time but I can live with that. Reset is not as long or bad as I first thought. The only thing I can say not to my liking is the gritty DA trigger and the short rails that take away the smooth function of the pistol. But hey for the price I am not griping. Down the road maybe I will pick one up. Right now I have to get a QD tactical scope for my M4 AR when they are back in stock and that is going to cost me.
