I played this at a convention a few years ago and one of the people that came with us had never played a modern boardgame before. They were absolutely floored with a bunch of the games we played and this was our collective favorite. They kept commenting how cool it was that things worked the way "they should" and being able to teach it logically really helped them pick it up quickly despite it being one I'd have not suggested as a gateway. I won't often pick this out to play, I don't think, but it'll never leave my collection.
Cellulose really is just a smooth, well designed and well themed worker placement game. It's not going to burn the industry down and redefine board game, but its rock solid, good to play and well made. Oh, and the science is solid too. I always test Genius games with at least one actual scientist in the group too
All their games are wonderful to play, easy to learn, and super educational that makes it fun to learn! Also I appreciate they include a booklet explaining the science behind everything
Genius games really have bundled this niche up. Genotype and Cytosis are both excellent, and periodic and subatomic are reasonably good. Those are the 5 I've played

Exactly, it doesn't do much mechanically new but its all so silky smooth and logical at the same time

I'm kinda curious what kept this from 'gold medal game' status; it seemed you were very high on this.
This looks cute. Maybe playing this will help me remember more than just “the mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell” 🍃
lol.

@@3MBG as a veteran dad and dad joker, I grant you a hearty seal of approval
I apparently need to look into this publisher for my biology teacher wife
