I had a Samoyed some years ago. Shawndee was so respectful; I left my dinner plate on the coffee table which had a T-bone steak left over for 3 hours. When I came back home, Shawndee had not touched the plate. I trimmed off the meat and put it in her dog bowl. She gobbled it right up. She was the kindest and most loving dog ever. Forty years later, I still think of her often.

We've had 4 Sammies over the last 30 years and all have lived to be 14+ and none have had any health problems. As all four came from different breederss I think the health risks are not particularly significant. All have been geat family pets with unique personalities. As long as you're not overly fussed about their shedding I'd recommend the breed to anyone.

I disagree with the guarding part. Yes, Samoyeds are very friendly which extends to strangers as well but doesn't mean they're completely useless when it comes to guarding. In fact, the AKC rates their watchdog/protective skills as 4/5. That's because they're vigilant and alert and make for excellent watchdogs.
We have had really good luck training Scout. Very smart dog and it doesn’t take many reps for learning a new tricks. I know Samoyeds are famous for being stubborn, but in our case, no problem as long as you have a supply of biscuits.

I have a Samoyed in an apartment and she's great. We exercise every day for about an hour and she's great.

Their absolutely beautiful dogs but if you own a pool do not let them in the pool because if it decides it likes to swim it'll ruin pool filters on a regular basis

We had a Black Samoyed Husky named Bear when I was a kid I loved that dog ... When I was little we used to call him a somoan husky because that's what we thought they were called and it wasn't until I got older that I realized there was no way on this earth this breed came from a tropical island
Bears favorite thing in the entire world was the pool he ruined so many pool filters it was ridiculous
have had 5 of these magical fluffies along with a litter of seven pups. Most accurate Samoyed video I have seen to date explaining there personalities and. I would add there also very good with other pets. Ours love to play with Zack our cat and loved to watch out for the bet bunny's to, Our first bitch walked around with a pet iguana on her back no problems so if you own other pets there also good with them. They are AMAZING with children they are like nana form peter pan with kids they watch out for them and herd them away form danger and protect them from other dogs etc. if you have kids there amazing! So loving and gentle all they want is to be with you and be loved
